I can understand one bank having glitches - but three all at the same time?

Something doesn't smell right, here.

Customers were taped for the news, saying they couldn't get into their ATMs at any banks.

And, I don't think you are old fashioned - I don't ever do online banking or even buy anything online with my credit card.

I have a couple of friends that also refuse to buy online with a credit card, yet they have no qualms about handing their credit card to the server when they bring the bill at a restaurant. It’s obvious which is more risky.

Actually it makes perfectly good sense. In order for the banks to “share” ATMs the way they do (notice all those logos next to the ATM showing all the other places besides your bank you can do business with) they have to share software within the ATMs. So that tells us the problem was in the ATM software, not the core banking software (which is almost never shared).
