Kamala Harris loses lead in California attorney general vote (Maybe we will win one out here!)
www.examiner.com ^ | November 6th, 2010 | Michael McGuire

Los Angeles District Attorney Steve Cooley on Saturday took the lead over San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris in votes for California attorney general.

In one of the state’s closest statewide elections ever, the Secretary of State’s office announced that Cooley now has a 22,817-vote lead over Harris.

This gives Cooley 46 percent of the vote, as of Saturday morning, and Harris 45.7 percent of the vote.

Harris earlier in the week had claimed victory; as had Cooley.

Cooley ran a campaign critical of Harris’ opposition to the death penalty.

Cooley survived a primary election in which he was criticized by fellow Republicans for wanting to modify the state’s three-strikes-you’re-out law.

“Steve carried 40 out of California’s 58 counties,” according to a statement on Cooley’s website. “The significance of that number is that estimates show there are more ballots to be tabulated in counties carried by Steve Cooley rather than in those counties carried by Kamala Harris. For example, there are 74,000 more ballots to be counted in Orange and San Diego Counties, which Cooley carried, than in Los Angeles County.

“There appear to be roughly 1.3 million or so absentee and provisional ballots to be counted. This is a huge number – particularly given that the AG’s race is essentially a tie.”

I hope so. Harris is a self-proclaimed socialist who makes Jerry Brown look like a conservative.

This is good. Cooley already made a name for himself with the Bell corruption case. If he wins CA will have at least one GOP victory.

The sadistic side of me wants the Donkeys to sweep everything in CA and teach the voters a lesson they won’t forget.

“Maybe someone I voted for will win! LOL”

I feel the same way! Only the anti-income tax and 2/3 requirement reinstated to raise taxes measures did pass (best news in WA State from Tues. other than Jamie Herrera taking Brian Baird’s old seat (RAT) seat from Heck in WA 3.

Asked by Garcetti whether he supported licensing before the purchase of firearms, Cooley responded, "Yes, I do. Licensing is probably the next logical step in terms of effective gun control. What we need to do is to make sure that guns are only in the hands of law-abiding citizens who have had a certain amount of basic training before they have that weapon in their possession.

Go Steve! Has anyone checked their car trunks, etc.? I’m sure there are thousands of Kamala Harris ballots waiting to be ‘found.’

This is great news! I won’t feel so bad if we have a good AG in place, and he won’t be a puppet for Brown and the unions.

Well, Kamala Harris is of the far left and would/will be a disaster as Attorney General. She herself would probably drive more people/business out of the state with her far left interpretations of the law. I can imagine how she would enforce the environmental laws. Just a total disaster.

Please, if there is justice in the world let Cooley win. Us conservatives in California need a break.

Gun owners need to pray she loses. The AG can have a real nasty effect on gun issues.

Well, living in Kaleefornia, and having voted for Cooley, my sadistic side wants him to win and investigate voter fraud to start with. Then sharpen his axe and unearth decades of Democrat crimes.

I wonder how many provisional ballots there are. When I hear “provisional”, I hear “illegals.”

The AG is the second most powerful office in the state. The AG can have a huge impact on the economy when it comes to environmental lunacy, trade, and the cost of doing business here.

Cooley is a good guy. I’m really hoping we pull this out.

Since the Dems have controlled most everything in the state for quite awhile, they haven’t had to work as hard as Dems in other states. Hence, they haven’t quite figured out how to “find,” bags of ballots as needed. I don’t think they will make the same mistake twice though.

I kid you not, Harris ran on being a mixed minority female.

That was her platform. That and being very pro-homosexual.

I agree. We have relatively clean elections here. If it was more competitive, that might not be the case. There are ..... ummm .... ethnic pockets where ballots are likely to become lost, stolen, spindled and mutilated while other ballots would emerge unscathed, like a phoeniz rising from the ashes.
