Obama calls for compromise, won't budge on tax cuts (Oh the irony of this headline)

In Demspeak, compromise means the Republicans agreeing to what the dems want.

“In January taxes will increase for just about everyone. Food and fuel prices are rising and the 99ers are just about done. It is going to get worse before it gets better.”

And I will tell you what; the new >>mandatory<< tax witholding tables will be published in time for anyone’s paycheck starting Jan 2011. And you (and I and everyone else) are going to see and hear a massive hue and cry burst forth upon the land starting roughly Jan 10, 2011, when *everyones’* paychecks suddenly take a $50-$125-$200 hit on that first paycheck in Janaury....during which time, the banks will make several billion in o/d fees. (oh, you thought there was a reason why your bank sent you out those opt-in/out overdraft thingys amonth ago?)

That’s part 1. My greater fear is that the GOP will play this; by “giving up” their insistence on these tax “cuts” because it will make the Dems look like idiots for letting this go during these tough times.

And part 1A is that I will bet you that at least 25% of the folks whose parent(s) die in 2011 instead of 2010 have no idea as to the impact of the sunset of these tax laws in 2011. The impact on a small, $1.5 MM to $3 MM estate is UNBELIEVABLE. The estate I am going to have to settle, right at about $2 million? I’d have to write the IRS a $550,000 check.

But hey, let’s support Nancy and Harry, they’re for the little people, right?

Their chances in 2012 are going to suffer from both of those decisions.

Jimmy Carter Vetoed a tax cut too.

This is zero’s and the Marxists’ first test. If the pubs don’t cave, he’s going to blame the middle class tax increase on the new congressional pubs.

We will need to write and call them and tell them to stand strong. The people in this country get the connection between tax cuts for all and jobs. WA state just voted on “tax the rich only”, and it failed overwhelmingly.

No compromise. Pass permanent Bush tax cuts and spending cuts and make Obama have to veto it. Absolutely no compromise whatsoever. “Bipartisanship” is gutless. Make Obama have to defend a bunch of asinine vetoes in 2012.

Have you noticed that perfectly fine roads are being torn up for resurfacing? WTF?

Yeah, USDoT just released a bunch of funds for a major freeway project in my area that will have things torn up for two-three years. Big headaches for commuters.

Your point suggests a strategy at work, rather like a guy who breaks into your house one night. You grab your shotgun and confront him, and he offers to leave for the low, low one-time price of $500.

<Catch 1: You've given up the principle of his breaking in; now he'll have the right.>

<Catch 2: He'll be back later for more, and the price will go up. Way up.>

Hint: Just pull the damn trigger. Worry about the cops and cleanup later.

Silly Big-Eared President Man. Couldn't figure out what We The People were saying if TOTUS spelled it out for him.

Oh, he understands all right; he just doesn't care. He's going to press ahead with his agenda of People's Republic, because he's a total ideologue and a totalitarian.

Of course the Professional Leftist Corrupt Bastards in Big Media are unable to see the irony/hypocrisy.

Oh, they see it all right. They're just on his side, and as committed as he is. For the same reason.

The bad news: It shows Barry's ideological, leftist, stubborn side. The good news: If he keeps this up, he'll end up splitting his own party.

Yeah, but all the Blue Dogs got voted out. There's nothing left to split. The maniacs are the last ones standing.

This works in our favor for the next election, but it presents a problem for re-instating Bush's tax cuts. If the President digs in, the media will demagogue the issue, painting the Republicans as supporting "tax cuts for the rich."

Too fricking bad. The Republicans better stand firm on this.

Stimulus spending has failed to stimulate. He still doesn’t get it.

Even the Republican leadership has caught on that Obama has no intention of compromising. They even seem willing to act on it.

Let's keep the heat on them.

It's a tough call. I'll come down on the side of total war, but this one is a hair-splitter for me.
