There’s a difference between investigating imaginary wrongs and investigating real crimes. Just because your enemy investigated piddles as a political weapon doesn’t mean that people are going to paint you with the same brush if you investigate known murderers.
People want to know whether or not our elections can be trusted - not because there were imaginary roadblocks that only impacted blacks in Florida in 2000, but because many people in NV in 2010 had their straight-line republican tickets all turned to democrat; they contacted the poll workers who had the same thing happen to them 4 out of 5 times. Others received ballots already filled in for Harry Reid. A box of ballots was found floating on water. We already know that Al Franken was elected by the felon vote. And we know that military people never received ballots in several states.
Just because the dems made up stories in 2000 doesn’t mean that people think it frivolous that our brave men and women serving abroad were denied the right to vote. In fact, I think there are some pretty intense feelings about that, and if the repubs DON’T check it out they will be on the wrong side of history.
That’s just one example of how what angers people depends on what they see as the goal. If “getting along”/ “shut up and graduate”/business as usual is what people are after, as you’re suggesting, then investigating real crime could be politically dangerous.
But if people actually see that the RULE OF LAW matters, then they will not tolerate Congress just putting up with the Department of Injustice antics with the NBPP, racial stuff as well as suing Arizona for wanting to enforce immigration law that is currently non-existent and leaving our southern border (and soon to be deep interior as well, as these people move about) vulnerable to druglords who pattern their methods after Al Qaeda.
Totally different to go on a wild goosechase to get Scooter Libby when you know the non-crime was actually done by Dick Armitage and the “victim’s” own husband... than it is to go after people who are ensuring that Arizonan ranchers will be shot, rape trees will be prevalent, people will bake in the back of 18-wheelers, dams will be blown up to spite the rival gang, and Al Qaeda, Hamas, and Hezbollah will have easy access to all of America through our wide open under-belly. Exponentially different, and even a stupid populace drunk under the influence of a corrupt media can see that difference.
The “birther” thing long, long ago ceased to be about Obama. It is and always has been about the rule of law, and I believe that the public is sick of the lawlessness WHEREVER it is found.
I do believe the first priority for Congress is the stuff they can take care of to undo the damage from the illegal coup. Healthcare is a biggie, and they have the possibility of defunding it. That should be their focus. I’ve always believed that Obama’s coup was a failure in law enforcement.
If Missouri is like Nebraska, the governor can request an investigation from the AG and the AG by law has to do it. The governor could request that their AG investigate whether Nancy Pelosi perjured herself by claiming that Obama was the duly elected candidate of the DNC, when she already knew that the Hawaii Democratic Party had refused to certify his eligibility, and had, in their eagerness to get the eligibility language out, ripped out of their standard form the very statement required by their law for the HDP to make.
Their AG would have subpoena power and could break this thing wide open. I’ve tried this route with Nebraska, and Gov Heineman just doesn’t have the guts to do it. Let’s hope and pray that Missouri has a law allowing their legislature to request such an investigation OR that this guy can encourage their governor to request such an investigation.
In addition, MO might be a good place to pass a law requiring that documentation of eligibility be submitted to the SOS before a name can be printed on the primary or general election ballot. Nobody could oppose that without revealing their utter contempt for the rule of law and the concerns of the American public.
