As a Fredhead, I’ll take what I can get. Fred and Steyn? That should be 2/3rds of the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

I wanted Fred to be nominated in ‘08, and Steyn is just brilliant, but watching Fred argue with a nutcase while Steyn tries to keep Dean civil would be just too much.

Pity, imagine how different the world would have been had Fred won the nomination.

Fred Thompson was such a poor proponent of limited government. Jerk Dean ran all over him. Hey Jerk Dean, you commie scumb, the way to reduce Federal government spending is to slash all of the useless, expensive, idiotic, government bureaucracies looking for something useful to do, that grow like weeds without forceful and intelligent oversight, clearly no where in sight in Washington.
That's what the Tea Party is about - replacing the dead wood in Washington with people who know what the problem is, and are committed to do something about it, so that their progeny will not become serfs of the Commie State, Jerk Dean.

I hear ya. Sad part is that by the time it got to our state to vote all we had left was Rino’s.
I think the debate video with the raise your hand if you believe in man made global warming showed us that he was the only real candidate we had running.

An interesting debate. Dean was entertaining and somewhat predictable, and thankfully sane, and even knew all the Canadian provinces.
Fred Thompson made one of the most salient points of the night, and one that reflects on his candidacy, which is that we have a political system which favors wealthy, connected, ruthlessly aggressive, self-interested politicians when they run for office, and once they win we expect them to become half Socrates/half Thomas Jefferson and put all self-interest aside. Will that ever work? Will that dynamic ever result in politicians capable of objective, fact-based discussions of solutions?
