Pressured by conservatives, NRSC raising money for Alaska ballot battle (Thanks to Mark Levin)

Under pressure from conservative activists, the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) is raising money for Joe Miller’s legal battle against Sen. Lisa Murkowski in Alaska’s Senate race.

NRSC Chairman John Cornyn (R-Texas) sent out a fundraising appeal Friday afternoon asking supporters to contribute to Miller’s campaign.

“Joe Miller in Alaska is dedicated to the conservative principles we need in Washington, DC,” Cornyn wrote. “But he faces the potential of a lengthy recount.

“We need to get Joe the resources he needs to win the vote count,” Cornyn added.

Cornyn issued his fundraising letter as conservative activists have been flooding his offices with phone calls demanding the NRSC do more to help Miller, who bested Murkowski in the GOP primary to become the party’s nominee. Murkowski then mounted a challenge to him as a write-in candidate in the general election.

Conservative talk-show radio host Mark Levin has asked his listeners to call Cornyn’s Senate office and “ask him why he is not sending money and lawyers to Alaska to help Joe Miller in the counting of write-in votes,” according to his website.

You have to wonder who's side the NRSC was on during this election. I wonder if they secretly supported McCowski.

>>>You have to wonder who’s side the NRSC was on during this election

The organization by its nature is Establishment First. They had to be pretty much shamed into supporting Miller at all in the general election. And they’re being shamed even further to support him now.

Part of the e-mail I sent to RNC:

Dear Sir,
The announcement of Murkowski forming a LEGAL DEFENSE FUND ia a National Embarrasment. Is she to beome the Al Franken of the Republican Party. IF the RNC and the NRSC is behind or supports this outragous stunt, 2012 is going to be a hard sell for Party backed Presidential Candidates.

(The rest was about Cornyn and a snowball in Hell) Something like that.

I am in Texas, I forget which one of our lovely mediocre Senators we get to take a primary run at first.

If they had a shred of decency, they would talk her into dropping out NOW.

KBH in 2012, if she decides to run again.

Interesting as I was opening my emails I see a letter from Cornyn asking for money to help Joe Miller for a recount. If I was going to make a donation I think I would be better off donating directly to the Joe Miller campaign.

I also heard Mark Levin give some “love” to FreeRepublic yesterday!!!

I haven’t been keeping up with the debacle in Alaska. What is the situation/vote count up there.

Anyone see Murcowski on Fox today--Kelly's hour, I think. That is one ugly, demented woman. Her mouth is drawn down at both sides like she bit on something sour. She got that seat from daddy and by d@m", it's hers.

Given the # of votes the Dem got, I have to believe many Dems voted for the Cow.

These are the unofficial results

http://www.elections.alaska.gov/results/10GENR/data/results.htm

The write-ins are not supposed to be counted until 15 days after the election, but it seems they are changing that just like they changed the write-in regs and talking about counting them early. Miller has a legal team and they are requesting that change not take place. Also, there are about 31000 absentee ballots, not sure if the Military are in there or not. The last write-in campaign had a toss-out rate as not valid of about 8%

Indeed, there's no trusting Cornyn. The majority of your donation might end up in Murkowski's legal fund.

I'm sure they supported COW but they are supposedly to be a professional organization backing legitimate Pub candidates....they'll have to keep their secret wishes to themselves...

OTOH.....I could care less about COW but we certainly don't want her off with the rats if she does pull thru....its a very difficult situation..

no...she can't drop out now...if she is correct, many thousands voted for her....many probably voted for her even thought their democrats...

they have to see this thing thru....I would hope that the NRSC could act as a liason and that Miller and Cow could at least state in public that they will support whoever wins...of course COW has already violated her initial pledge...
