Anti-Tea Party E-Mail Sparks Controversy (School District Offical Says Tea Party is Evil)
News4Jax ^ | Thursday, November 4, 2010

Posted on 11/05/2010 11:31:51 AM PDT by nickcarraway

An e-mail clearly sent by an employee of the Duval County School District takes aim at the tea party movement and its members, blatantly calling them racists -- accusations that have left local members of the movement angry and disappointed.

Cynthia Jones-Humphrey, technical manager in the department of Community and Family Engagement, sent the e-mail, titled "Why We Must Vote!" from her school account on Monday morning.

The e-mail encourages people to vote a straight Democratic ticket because, "The Republican Party has been hi-jacked by dangerous, radical hate mongers called the 'Tea party.'"

The e-mail goes on: "These people hate Blacks. They hate Latinos. They hate Gays. They hate Muslims and have made many anti-Semitic statements."

Lynne Holicky, the government affairs liaison with the local tea party, was offended by the e-mail.

"If anyone with the tea party made statements like this in writing, they would no longer be a part of the tea party," Holicky said.

Humphrey's six-paragraph e-mail continued: "Fear that these radicals could take this country back past Jim Crow, they hey-day of the Ku Klux Klan -- all the way back to the 1860s. Don't think it could happen? Just stay home on Election Day and see what happens to this country."

It's not known how many people were on Jones-Humphrey's distribution list, but she asked recipients to forward her e-mail to at least 15 people.

"She's very angry and I don't know why. I feel badly for her. I think she's misinformed and misguided," Holicky told Channel 4's Vickie Pierre. "Anytime you disagree with the president you're a racist, and this is what's been going on for a long time, and it's really gone so far." Pierre tried calling Humphrey, but the message was not returned. Al the school district would say is that Humphrey made an error in judgment and the situation has been handled internally.

The school district also sent Channel 4 its extensive policy regarding employee use of computers and e-mails, and said what Humphrey did was a clear violation. "Honestly, with the press she's getting now, I fear she's fearing the pain of her decision," Holicky said. "I wouldn't ask that she be fired. That's not my place."

Brilliant move on her part.

The e-mail goes on: "These people hate Blacks. They hate Latinos. They hate Gays. They hate Muslims and have made many anti-Semitic statements."

If anyone disciplines her they "prove" her contention that that they do practice "hate". It doesn't matter than none of it is true. It doesn't matter that what she does is totally inappropriate.

I say we fire her anyway.

(I'm such a hater...;-)

The rising tide of anti-Semitism in America comes from the muslim community and college liberals, NOT the Tea Party.

Seems to me this wretch should be fired immediately. Someone who feels like this, so racist and unever tempered, should not be within eye view of any student regardless of her role in the system.

The only hatred that is proven in the email is that woman’s own. In the liberal’s fight against their perceived evil, they turn evil themselves.

I AM calling for her to be fired. She is free to spew her venom on her own time, but when she uses taxpayer time and resources to demonize people about whom she knows less than nothing, she violates ethics and possibly the Law.

If somneone in My school district did the same, I would not rest until she was unemployed and possibly jailed.

...department of Community and Family Engagement...

Check it out! I found an entire DEPARTMENT within that school system which can be eliminated without affecting the quality of the educational opportunities being provided to the children!

Seems to me she’s very close to breaking the law if she hasn’t already. Campaigning on the public’s dime is strictly prohibited.

If she's a teacher, how does she justify telling students that the American people are "evil"...because that's all the Tea party movement is, the people.

I'll bet she tells them the patriots in the Amerian Revolution were evil too...same principle.

“Department of Community and Family Engagement.” No wonder this woman has the leisure to engage in partisan politics on the public’s dime: it is not as if she has any real work to do. The proliferation of offices such as the the one held by this parasite is the principal cause for the spiraling costs of education. She should be removed from the rolls for violating the rules. And she should not be replaced: save the money or hire another reading teacher.

I wonder what a Staff and Volunteer Manager position pays in this School District.
