“What does it matter?” Is the issue here that he broke MSNBC rules, or that a purported independent pundit actually donated to partisan campaigns?

It matters because the issue is his objectivity, not what infraction against company rules he committed.

I know Sean Hannity gave $5,000 to Michele Bachmann’s PAC. Funny....I couldn’t find Olbermann’s donation on
newsmeat.com or opensecrets.org but I did see Hannity’s as well as a Neil Cavuto donation from 2002.

You just said the issue is Keith Olberman's objectivity. That's like saying there is an issue of whether Adolf Hitler was aggressive toward other countries.
