My Opponent Homeschools Her Children
Rardin for Kansas ^ | 11/1/2010 | Democrat State Rep. Gene Rardin

Posted on 11/05/2010 10:03:31 AM PDT by Qbert

If you are not aware of this, you should be, before you vote.  I taught in SM Schools and support funding for a strong public education system. I demonstrated my belief by attending SM Schools as did both of my children.

Amanda Grosserode does not understand the importance of our public schools and has demonstrated that lack of understanding by withdrawing her own children from public schools in favor of home schooling.

The reason, IMO, because crap like this exists is precisely BECAUSE the publicschools do not teach any thinking skill, but a mindless obedience to someone claiming a position of authority.

Thou paintest with a broad, broad, broad, broad brush.

IOW, thou knowest not the difference between thine head and thine hinder parts.

Wow... really? I went through public school and I'm fine. Wow...

Oh yeah? Really?

If you were fine, you'd see the problems with the public school system. Your failure to do so shows the depth of brainwashing that they did to you.

that's a pretty strong indicator that you're not fine.

Calling me names now are we?

Where did you learn how to be so juvenile? I’m guessing public school.

Uh huh. Yeah. Right. You’re the victim. Ok. We got it. Yeah. Right.

Public school kids’ parents are monsters and murderers. OK.

You’re just a joke without a punch line.

Home schooling is perfect?

Really? How about the homeschool mom that killed all her students in the bathtub?

Private school is perfect? Really? How about all those priests that molested their students?

Take off your rose colored glasses. Public, private, and homeschooling all has problems that need to be addressed.

Or are you too blinded to see it?

And yes, I have had kids in private, home school, and public school. I’ve also personally worked in and with more schools in more states than you have and go into each with my eyes open.

I could make fun of the misfit freak kids that are too fragile and too freaky to handle public or private school and have to be homeschooled but those are a minority and not representative of all homeschoolers, but they exist.

And we could discus the private school kids who are there because they got kicked out of public school. But they too are a minority.

Done tossing mud yet?

Home schooling is perfect?

Private school is perfect?

Who said that? Why are you asking me?

Public schools are liberal indoctrination centers that don't educate any more but produce increasingly illiterate inmates who either drop out or have to have dumbed down standardized and SAT tests to make them look good.

Teachers are known to be in the lower SAT range of college graduates and in some cities (Buffalo) scream *racism* every time they have to take proficiency tests that high school graduates are supposed to be able to pass because the teachers can't.

Public education rots from within.

Public Schools aren’t fully to blame for those statistics.

No, but they are the single most significant indicator. If home school kids "stay the course" 95% of the time, and evangelical kids in general run screaming into the bushes 85-95% of the time, these latter kids evidently are in some other place than a home-education environment.

You have also been killed. We are both dead. The only difference is that you haven’t realized it yet.

What makes you think that private school teachers are any better?

They have their problems and can be even much more liberal than public schools.

You rail on public schools as if the other options are flawless, not realizing that the same political and social problems are in the private school systems.

If one shops school districts, one can find schools that do very well in every critical aspect.

We're not trying to kill the system.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

God most often uses real people to act as His angels.

Personally, I am doing everything I can, within the law, to **kill** the godless, socialist-modeled, socialist-funded government schools.

If a child attends godless, socialist, government schools then learn to be comfortable with thinking godlessly and socialistically, and he also learns to worship government as a pagan god who can use the threat of police force to take money from their neighbor.

I never said that public schools had no problems. They are a huge problem. But the way you put it, that if someone goes to Public school they lose all logic and reason, is utterly wrong. Me being able to look at things objectively shows that I actually am fine. The same cannot be said about you.

Government establishment of education cannot be allowed, the same as government establishment of religion, and for much the same reason.

I view public schools as government churches.

I’ve homeschooled and my kids did spend a year in the local public high school as seniors when we had finished up the requirements for homeschooling just before they went to college. I am a public school graduate myself, as homeschooling wasn’t even heard of in my day.

I’ve personally seen it from both sides and do know what I’m talking about. Most public school advocates cannot say the same.

If children attend schools that are utterly godless, they **will** learn to think godlessly. They must do this merely to finish their assignments and survive in that godless environment. You seem to be completely accepting of this and see no problem with having the government force citizens to pay for an utterly abhorrent religiously godless worldview. Personally, I consider it child abuse to teach children to think godlessly.

If children attend socialist-funded schools they will learn to be completely comfortable with having government threaten their neighbors to collect the money to fund these schools. It is evident from your posts that you have learned to be completely comfortable with your own socialist funded schooling.

If children attend schools that are compulsory, then children learn to be comfortable with government compulsion. From your posts it is evident that you are comfortable with teaching children to be prisoners of the state.

The above can NOT NOT NOT be fixed. If schools are not compulsory, godless, or funded through government police threat, then they would be called PRIVATE schools.

Do some parents overcome the above? Yes, through **tons** of afterschooling, reading their children textbooks, and reviewing their homework and assignments. It is actually FAR FAR FAR more work to properly undo government school damage than to merely homeschool the child correctly.

Finally....Where is the proof that children actually learn anything in school? How much learning actually happens there? How much of the high standardized test scores found in the so-called “good” government schools is really due to the teaching at the school? It is my bet that when high standardized test scores are found this acquired learning it due **entirely** to the efforts of the parents and the child himself IN THE HOME!

I have repeatedly asked teachers and “educators” to show me studies that separate out the learning found in the home from any ( unlikely) learning that happens in government schooling. No one has ever provided me with the links.

Eagle Eye,

Please read post #116.

It is child abuse to teach children to think godlessly, and to teach them to be comfortable with socialism and government compulsion, ownership, and management.

Our nation's children learn this every minute they spend attending our godless, compulsory, socialist-funded, and government owned and run schools.

Again please read post #116.

( I am pinging Soothsayer as a courtesy.)

This is ridiculous. All I am arguing is that kids that go to public school are not automatically lost. Parents of those kids aren’t automatically Satan’s best friend. This is all I’m arguing. I’m all for doing away w/ public schools, but some of you people can’t see the other side at all.

I see exactly what you mean about homeschooling and private schools. In most cases, that is the best option.

I went to a public school. In my public school I had multiple teachers that were conservative and also a few who were christians. WOW shocker!!! I also had teacher’s who were liberal and honestly, I did not have any teachers who talked down on God/Christianity.

But you know what? I learned to talk and debate w/ the liberal teachers. Multiple times in class I challenged them. I learned to listen and evaluate their information and put my knowledge and research against it.

I didn’t learn to “think utterly Godless”. Nor did a bunch of my friends from Public school.

And here’s the kicker. My parents didn’t have to do a ton of afterschooling to teach me. Never happened, and I still did pretty decent in school and then in college.

How in anything that I have said says that I am comfortable with socialist funded schools, prisoners of state. All I was responding to was the moron who started equating sending your kids to school as parents being monsters and so on. Thats not true in every case. In most, yes. In every? no.

In no way shape or form am I in favor of kids learning this, but EVERY public school does not teach this! This is all that I am saying. You saying that EVERY public school is like this is 100% wrong.
