WASHINGTON Self-proclaimed tea party leader Michele Bachmann's bid for a top Republican post in the House received a cool reaction Thursday from Speaker-to-be John Boehner, an early test of how GOP leaders will treat the antiestablishment movement's winners in Tuesday's elections.
"Constitutional conservatives deserve a loud and clear voice in leadership!" Bachmann, R-Minn., who founded the Tea Party Caucus, said in a one-paragraph Facebook announcement that she is running for GOP conference chairman.
House Republican leaders don't disagree. But that doesn't mean they want the hyperbolic Bachmann being a spokeswoman for the new majority during the 2012 election cycle.
Boehner, aware of the role tea partiers played in making him the next House speaker, is endorsing no one. His lieutenants are lining up behind Rep. Jeb Hensarling of Texas, leaving no doubt that Hensarling and not Bachmann is the leadership favorite to chair the GOP conference.
"There are few who have done as much for the Republican team as Jeb," the expected House majority leader, Eric Cantor of Virginia, said in a statement.

You must be on the wrong site. You're repeating DU and MSM talking points.
I've never seen or heard anything from Michele Bachmann that would support your contentions.
Call your representatives and start pushing them to support her (or else) :O)
Boehner, if he active is against Michelle Bachmann (probably one of the most visable Tea Party supports in Congress) IS JUST SENDING A MESSAGE OF “Screw-You” to the Tea Party!
I am willing to give him one shot. My gut says he got it.
He has pull and “if” he got it he can be good for the cause.
Yeah man.... That is what she will do!... NOT! Put down your crack pipe.
That just means more primaries in the next cycle against the worst offenders.
I'm willing to see how this plays out but it does represent my deep rooted concerns.
Never forget the most notable characteristic of the Republican Party is its uncanny ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory
let’s not go down that road. we all need each other and we all agree on more than we disagree on. Boehner is a conservative. He is one of us btw: http://www.ontheissues.org/OH/John_Boehner.htm
Besides the fact that he has been part of the establishment and if in fact “he got it” is much more than Bachmann can bring to the table.
I dont think so...I like Michelle, but she really needs a little more time.
Boehner better think twice before snubbing Bachman......IF THIS IS TRUE!
I'm sorry but I just don't see the resemblance.
Boehner is the most powerful Republican in America and he has earned his position over decades of steadfast comittment to conservative principles unlike Bachmann who was lucky enough ride the right wave into shore. He doesn’t need to get out of any freshman’s way and I think it more than a little bit absurd to insist that he does. Democrats will certainly try to exploit this perceived “split” within the party. We should not promote such stupidity. Boehner’s conservatism is tested and true. We should be rallying behind him, not undermining him.
It’s either her or another Tea Party supporter in leadership, becuase all I (see) hear now is more of the same.
Jeb Hensarling is as solid of a conservative, as can be found in the House.

I don’t doubt that at all.. all many have is their gut to go on here.
I’m my mind, there is no litmus test perse one can base their choice on ,, maybe Jeb and John work well together, Can John and Michelle work as well together? We’ll see.
Hanging around Washington for years and years means exactly ZIP -— and could mean that your Conservative bona fides have been corrupted by RHINOitis!!! Seniority wasn’t mentioned by the Founders, because they never anticipated anyone spending their LIVES in Congress. If someone is doing a mediocre job, what value is it if they have been doing it for a very LONG time?!? MERIT, not seniority, should decide positions.
And, by the way GUYS, have you noticed that it is the Conservative WOMEN who seem to be the point of the lance this time around? I think it is high time for the “Good Ol’ Boys” to be inclusive before they find themselves excluded.
That’s not the message I keep hearing... I hear recognition, this was not GOP controlled the people spoke, and it was definately due to the tea party. The Republicans know they are on probation. I do not think they will ignore this.
Threaten to run independent next go around. Much easier as an insider already holding the seat.Let the pubbies run against the tea party, split the vote and give it all back to the dems if they can’t accommodate those who gave them the power. Time to play for keeps.
Boehner os ok. Im not buying this story. He knows exactly what the RATS are all about. Let things work out a bit folks.
Ive noticed that...even here in Florida!!!!
