AUSTIN — As Republicans prepare to take a two-thirds majority of the Texas House, some of the party’s issues that were wilting under opposition from Democrats will likely be pushed to the top of the agenda when the legislative session starts in January.

In addition to facing a budget shortfall expected to be more than $20 billion with renewed calls for fiscal restraint, the House will also revisit the highly charged and partisan issues of voter identification and immigration.

He said the state has to do something since the federal government is not securing the border.

Isn't that the truth. This bull has to be taken by the horns and dealt with. El Paso and other border areas have become war zones and it will continue to creep north.

Wow, pubbies now hold a 99-51 edge in the state house. They need to take a very sharp knife to the state budget and show DC how it’s done. Look for real immigration legislation and voter ID changes as well. I know Perry has said he doesn’t see an Arizona type law in Texas but the legislature may see it differently. This is going to be very interesting.

HERE’S MY RESPONSE TO THIS GUY:
“We have as many undocumented people here in the state as anybody and we need to figure out how to get them documented, those that are working and doing fine and abiding by the law,” Chisum said. “We need a way to have that work force here. ... But it needs to be legal, documented, know where they are, paying taxes and abiding by the law.” (http://www.mywesttexas.com/top_stories/article_b0d3356c-e7c5-11df-86a6-001cc4c03286.html)

I see you are an amnesty supporter. Did you not observe what happened in CA. this election? We will be watching this issue closely this session...I hope you will study how immigration has played out in Europe.

With Mexican citizens voting in South Texans for generations, it is high time we require proof of citizenship to vote. They vote for the Democrats so their illegal free food cards, WIC freebies, Medicaid, and free public schools for their children will keep flowing from our flat broke state and federal governments. This is just insane and needs to be stopped now, or we need to vote out the “fiscal conservatives” we just voted in.

I hope you are right, but....... There are now 12 demoRATS in
the Texas Senate and it only takes 11 to use procedural
rules road-block bills.

We will have to “turn” one or two to get stuff done. But
they (demoRATS) better be living in fear now, anyway, that
they could get thrown out next time.

“I also want to be very careful not to gloat as a Republican, not to assume that the voters have said that we’re strongly Republican now and forever more,” Straus said. “I think that it’s up to us as Republicans to lead in a way that will help convince the voters who gave us their confidence yesterday that we’re worthy of that support going forward.”

This guy concerns me... He makes little quisling sounds like a RINO pussy... To much work has gone into this to take even the slightest chance on Fing it up with another RINO. Replace this guy with a solid "extreme right wing extremist"!

With Republicans being swept into state houses all across the nation, look for them to accelerate “Arizona style”
immigration bills already being considered. That is gonna be
FUN to watch. The Libs will go insane when even one or two
more states pass it.

Immigration reform or “amnesty” at the national level, is now deader that Generalissimo Francisco Franco.

I totally accord. Leo Berman is your man. There was talk of him getting into Speaker position but then they decided they could only get Strauss out by getting somebody more moderate. This “moderate” position is being able to “carve out” a cheap labor pool with an amnesty scheme ready made for the Texas biz community. Visit my site.www.stopthemagnet.com

"a voter identification bill would pass under the new makeup of the House."

Democrats oppose anything that would stop election fraud--for obvious reasons.

They also disenfranchise the military while enabling illegal immigrants and imprisoned felons to vote--for obvious reasons.

Both of these speak volumes about Democrats.

The senate did not pose problems last session. The house was the problem.

I think this legislature gives us our best chance yet on guns, voter I’d, and immigration.

“This guy concerns me... He makes little quisling sounds like a RINO.”

Your intuition is very acute. Straus was the worst thing to happen to the Texas Republican party during the 2009 legislative session, and because of him good bills were killed in committee without being brought up for a vote.

At the State Convention, David Barton passed out an open letter outlining all of Straus’ actions, both during 2009 and Straus’ support of Democrat candidates during 2010.

Here is what I posted on the Texas board yesterday (and I was being polite):

I am very happy with the Texas results. I do have one concern, however, about our chances of passing Voter ID, immigration laws, or any other truly conservative legistation.

In 2009, Straus formed a coalition of 15 Republicans and 70 Democrats to win Speaker of the Texas House, and then proceeded to assign almost half of the committee chairs to Democrats, and the chairs that were Republicans were often moderate Republicans, thus making it very difficult to get conservative bills onto the Texas House floor for a vote. For example, one can read about the disaster here:
http://blogs.chron.com/bakerblog/2010/08/the_democrats_stealth_influence_in_the_texas_house_1.html

From the post: “The apparent price paid by Straus for this Democratic support was the delegation of a great deal of his agenda control powers (especially negative agenda control) to the Democratic Party House leadership. This speculation would help explain why the roll rate of the minority Democratic Party was a mere 3 percent in 2009, but the roll rate of the majority Republican Party was 32 percent. While it would appear the Democratic House leaders worked to ensure that legislation that was opposed by a majority of Democrats never made it to the floor for a FPV, one cannot say the same thing about their Republican counterparts.”

I now pray that Straus does not do the same thing again this year, but he already seems to be well ahead with his plans:
http://dailysentinel.com/news/texas/article_86ce1784-e348-555e-bf30-04967a1e0f72.html

Straus’s current support, as claimed by Straus, includes “76 Republicans and 46 Democrats.” Given that there are only 50 Democrats, just what is Straus offering to the Democrats to garner support from 90 percent of them?

‘’ the highly charged and partisan issues of voter identification and immigration.’’

The only people that find these "issues" controversial are those who's party routinely relies on the votes of illegals, the dead and cartoon characters to garner electoral victory.

This country is at the knife endge of trouble:

It is now the PRODUCERS vs the PARASITES.

It will be bloody & possible take a few years to clean out the gene pool.

Those who are Conservative & are not prepared-—get prepared.

The Parasites will never be prepared because they have adapted to living off the earnings & generosity of others on a day to day or week to week basis.
