Like pretty much every child who walks up Main Street U.S.A. at Disney World for the first time, Alix, 10, and her brother Evan, 11, can barely contain their anticipation. Evan wants to ride Space Mountain. Alix is so excited, she can't even say what she wants to do. She is jumping up and down. It's a typical Disney scene, except that Evan, Alix and their sister Jamie, a desultory 4-year-old shielded from the sun in a stroller, have come to the Magic Kingdom with their two moms. It is the 20th anniversary of Gay Days at Disney, and the whole family has traveled from Hickory Corners, Mich., to celebrate.
Gay Days is now one of the largest gay-pride events in the world. According to Watermark, a Florida-based gay newspaper that has been covering Gay Days since it started, about 150,000 people attended this June's six-day gathering, which included 17 pool parties, a business expo, a comic-book convention, a film festival, an after-hours trip to a Disney water park (think dance music and guys in very small swimsuits), bobble-head painting and tie-dyeing for the kids, rivers of alcohol (and some other substances) for the adults and, on June 5, the great culmination: 20,000 to 30,000 lesbians, gays and their families and friends descending on Disney World, everyone clad in red shirts to signify their presence.
Gay Days started modestly in 1991 as a way for some 3,000 lesbians and gays from central Florida to become more visible on one day,

You are correct, but they do nothing to warn the public that a certain week of the year is “Gay Day” week, and they also do not warn families about the Disney gay cruise week, either.
In both cases, especially the cruise, families with young children are assaulted by the blatant gay agenda and perversion that is celebrated (shown off) by gays.
Imagine booking the cruise and then when on-board, you discover it is the gay cruise, with cross-dressing, fetish monsters trolling the decks. . . the family is trapped, their vacation ruined and their money wasted, not to mention their family values assaulted and their young children exposed (sometime literally) to the perverts.
My son worked for a year at Disney in Florida, and he witnessed first-hand the appalling San Fransico-like gay behavior in the park, from a$$less chaps to a cross-dressing Tinker Bell. Treasure Island is closed at nights during gay week because of the sex acts and drug taking that goes on in the woods.
“They have no control over who shows up and when, and if they did try to stop them, theyd be sued into oblivion by the federal government.”
That is true, but Disney should notify people that when they are making a booking during gay week, that they are making a booking during a time where gay behavior will be blatant, obvious and offensive. How to do that? Simple, just ask the people making the booking if they wish to sign up for any of the “gay” events or take advantage of the “gay” discounts on park hotels. Those offers would alert the unsuspecting families.
For 13 years, Disney and Gay Days organizers have had an "unofficial" relationship in which the Disney execs, without publicly endorsing Gay Days, have bent over backwards to make sure the accommodations fit the needs of those participating in the gala.
One thing is fundamentally clear from any visit to the Gay Days site -- Disney's name, image, and likeness is littered throughout the site. Enter the Tinkerbell technicality. Disney will not expressly embrace Gay Days, for it knows the backlash would be too severe. So Disney just sits idly by and uses the Gay Day folks as a marketing conduit to the homosexual community. Disney gets the best of both worlds -- a technical denial of involvement in Gay Days, and the free advertising to scores of homosexuals.
Families should stay away from theme parks that openly cater to perverts. Your defense of the Disney name struck me as odd.
Good response, DJ!
Sorry, but with this article, it’s time to tell the truth about Disney, and Walt in particular.
(Plz remember, I am Orlando based and was network TV reporter for years.)
It was a huge secret (and to many still is) but the entire Disney organization has been gay-centric since the time of Walt and the first cartoons.
Walt was the “Gay Mayor” of LA until succeeded by Jim Neighbors. The Gay Mayor was an honorary title, with a set of resposibilities. The gay mayor had the responsibility to ensure big time gays were not outed, got work, etc. It was a part, and a very significant part, of the gay Hollywood underground.
The entire Disney organization was very gay-focused, long before Eisner. Back in the Mickey Mouse Club days, it was never a secret, and admitted by the now-adult gay actors, that Disney had sexual relationscwith a number of teenage boys on the show, “Spin and Marty” and others.
Disney’s marriage was a complete sham. He married his secretary when, one week, the then-struggling cartoonist didn’t have enough money to pay her salary.
In addition, at one level, Disney’s movies are warm and wonderful. On another level, they are often about cruel deaths of parents, (Bambi, Lion King, etc) frightened children looking for protection, etc. All very popular themes with gays.
Sorry to burst bubbles, but Walt was a big time gay, and set his company up that way too.
IbJ, I think the courts call it “Public Accommodation” or some such thing. Basically means you can’t bar anybody if you are catering to the public.
If you want to be ticked off at Disney for the way they market Hanna Montana or any of their other prodigies, that would be more constructive use of your disgust.
Well let me tell you what I know.
In the propaganda campaign book After the Ball it says this:
Infer and speculate that famous historical figures were gay for two reasons: first, they are dead as a door nail, hence in no position to deny the truth and sue for libel; (page 188)
“Sorry to burst bubbles, but Walt was a big time gay, and set his company up that way too.”
Well, none of that surprises me.
All I was saying is that in my trips to Disney World, and Disneyland, I never saw one hint of homosexual lifestyle.
No doubt, in the last 15 to 20 years, they have come out of the closet.
An example of attacking a family icon in an effort to diminish his effort and advance their own perverted agenda.
Sorry, I don’t buy it without a lot more convincing evidence.
As another poster said, painting dead people as closet gays is way to “normalize” gay behavior, make it look like it is more widespread than it is, and turn icons of family values into soldiers for the homosexual lifestyle.
“Who is your biggest hero? Oh, he was gay too!” Promoters of the gay agenda have been using this tactic for decades.
That doesn't jibe with the Tommy Kirk page at IMDB:
From the bio: "However, in 1964, the Disney factory found out Tommy was gay and they immediately released him from his contract after finishing The Monkey's Uncle (1965)."
Personal Quote: "Even more than MGM, Disney [in the early 1960s] was the most conservative studio in town....They were growing aware. They weren't stupid. They could add two and two, and I think they were beginning to suspect my homosexuality. I noticed people in certain quarters were getting less and less friendly....In 1963 Disney didn't renew my option and let me go. But Walt let me return to do the final Merlin Jones movie, 'The Monkey's Uncle,' because those were moneymakers for the studio."
I was wondering about that just the other day how career paths can differ as to why Tommy Kirk fell into obscurity where Kurt Russell, the other boy star Disney was heavily marketing at that time went on to do well.
"Sultry"? Just because Ariel shows her belly button?
I went during Gay Days one year and saw very few gay people (identified by red shirts and coupling). But they all wanted to be in the parade (it’s a gay thing).
Go away noobie.
I suppose that's easier than actually addressing my point. Seems a bit intellectually lazy, though.
Oh, well.
That doesn’t seem like a great business plan, Hulka. So Disney World tells all the straight folks to NOT come for a week in June, during their busy season - thus assuring that the gays have the park to themselves, and Disney takes a big financial hit.
Also, since Disney doesn’t organize the gay events, I think it would be hard to offer to sign people up for them - and if they did, would’nt that then have Disney expressly cooperating with the Gay Days group? And further angering everyone else...
All I’m trying to say here is that Disney is in a tough situation, and there’s not a great solution for it.
Oh, I’m perfectly capable of understanding a simple concept, but thanks for your advice.
The question remains, though - how can Disney resolve this situation without having the Obama justice department sue them into bankruptcy, along with the bad publicity and boycotts. You’re upset with Disney - fine - so what should they do to fixt this? Queer test at the gate? Turn away anyone in a red shirt? The only plan I can think of is to stay away from Disney in June! Shouldn’t be much of a problem for me - I’ve only been there once, and it’ll be a long time before I have vacation time again.
BVW - I presume that Disney loses more business than they gain during gay days, but I *really* don’t want to Google info on Gay Days... If that’s the case, then I’m sure they would like to hear your suggestion. If this is a big money-maker for Disney, then I’d be more receptive to the idea that they are being sneaky.
