'I blame Karl Rove'
STG News ^ | 11/3/10 | William Way, Jr.

Posted on 11/04/2010 4:30:30 AM PDT by Dr. Scarpetta

There is a singular event that shoved the Republican Senate car over the cliff.

That event was the primary victory of Christine O'Donnell. This morning she used a phrase that is right on the money. That description is "Republican Cannibalism."

I personally hold Karl Rove to blame, followed closely by Senator John Cornyn. Rove is an establishment Progressive Republican of the first order.

Following O'Donnell's message of values victory in Delaware, Rove started slinging mud in her direction because he realized she was a woman that couldn't be bought & sold on a D.C. street corner.

It was Rove who almost exclusively undermined an untested Republican. When challenged, he became entrenched, making it a media story.

Coming out of a surprise primary victory, everyone would obviously be questioning O’Donnell’s candidacy.

It's the "Man Bites Dog" story. Rove turned an opportunity to help create an up-and-coming political star into much less.

The bottom feeder Rove chose for his personal aggrandizement to put blood in the water. The sharks had a feeding frenzy.

The result was that yet another "Traditional Values Candidate" was beaten by her own political party, & the momentum of several other races was slowed.

It gave Reid & others the chance to further paint traditional values candidates as kooks. The Republican cannibalism resulted in the Senate leadership failure to get behind Republican nominees.

The cannibalism by a self-professed REPUBLICAN strategist, wrapped up is his own glory led to lost momentum by MIller, Fiorina (albeit her real defeat was the unfortunate infection), Buck, Angle & Rossi.

His poor choices contributed to a decay of no less than 15 percent-point in Delaware. Had Delaware been advocated by Rove, rather than diminished, today we would be looking at a three-seat Senate majority, & a Republican Governor in CA.

>>I do doubt that Ms. O’Donnell got her clock cleaned in Delaware because Mr. Rove criticized her. I don’t think that the dems or the independents really care what Mr. Rove thinks.<<

I think she is a loon, however, I also think that with people from her own “team” working against her, there is a VERY good chance some independents turned away. I know independents who think that way.
That is the point. One she was elected by the GOP there to be the candidate they should have sided with her. All of them. Or who will be the next target of the establishment. If it’s not a good ole boy the candidate will be no good?

Bruce Campbells Chin: “It was because of her.”

No. It wasn’t because of HER, because they don’t know HER. They know OF her. How do they know of her? They know of her based on what the media, including Rove, tells them. A picture was painted. It was negative. Rove helped.

I see no one is blaming Maher for putting out that clip
of Odonnell where she admits to dabling in witchcraft.
I cringed when I saw her “I’m not a witch” and it all
just helped reinforce the image people were starting to
have of her as someone who’s a little wacko. If Sharron
Angle, who was a slightly better candidate than ODonnell
couldn’t beat Reid, what makes anyone think Christine even
had a chance in a deep blue state.

” Rove and the other “Establishment” Republicans cost We the People the US Senate and the California Governor’s race by their non-support of the Republican candidates. “

I was not aware until just recently that Rove and Ed Gillespie were founders of two conservative PACS -American Crossroads and Crossroads GPS.
http://www.americancrossroads.org/
Their PACs supported candidates all over the US-apparently raising over 50 million from donors,
including the founder of Swiftboat Veterans for Truth who gave them 7 million.
They ran ads for Angle against Reid and against Fisher for Portman.

” One of this election cycle’s major third party groups is announcing it will spend more than four million dollars in the next week in
its largest media buy of the season spread across eight
of the key Senate battlegrounds.
In an effort to help elect Republicans in these races, American Crossroads will spend almost $800,000 in Colorado
and $350,000 in Nevada while its affiliate Crossroads Grassroots Policy Strategies (GPS) is buying time in Illinois, Washington state,
Missouri, Kentucky and Pennsylvania.”

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2010/10/05/american-crossroads-and-affiliate-announce-major-ad-buy/

They are gearing up already for 2012, much to the alarm of the Democrats.
They plan on “advertising against Democrats as Congress returns,
when decisions loom on the extension of the Bush-
era tax cuts and immigration. “
And bashing Barry during the primary season.
Which is fantastic.
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/11/01/us/politics/01groups.html

I thought Rove’s comments after O’Donnell became the nominee were inappropriate and unprofessional , but, Rove’s PAC actually helped a lot of good people this election season get elected.

I’ll throw in my comment, why not. We need to good candidates. Everyone that lost in this environment was, by definition, a bad candidate.

Learn or die. IF it means running moderates in leftist states, then so be it. That’s the real world. I see people on here yacking about how people gotta slum it in the workforce. We gotta slum it too, nobody’s immune. Elitism runs all ways. You have to be flexible and smart or you lose.

Im not saying we should or should not settle for moderates in liberal state. Just that someone can lose a primary but still be a strong general candidate.

Castle would have been a weak conservative but a strong republican in the general. Does it matter anymore? Not really.

COD is more qualiified than SOETORO.

If that's O'Donnell's standard--she's better than the worst president ever--then I guess that's just the most retarded standard imaginable.

Nice picture of animals having sex, how classy. About in line for the fams of a woman who can't stop talking about sex but who can't get a man.

I can only hope the true believers are a small minority in the real world.

Supporting these losers is like if the dems re-ran gore or mondale again and again.

C’mon, grow up. Losers need to be buried, especially when the tide was so favorable. Lets get some new faces, no more mcdonnell or even palin. Enough.

High standards need to be maintained.

I love this country. I don’t want it destroyed by anymore financial nincompoops.

Sending people who can’t even get their own lives in order to DC to straighten out an economy of trillions of dollars makes no sense.

High standards.

No compromise on conservative values.

And incompetence is not a conservative value.

I’m not saying that anyone that lost is a non-conservative.

Maybe some were and some were not.

However, losing in this election needs to mean they are ejected from any future consideration. All the ‘Big’ women running lost. All of them gotta go.

High standards need to be maintained.

Snowe.

Specter.

Powell.

McCaine.

Murkowski.

Lugar.

Bennett.

No compromise on conservative values.

You are a liar and a scoundral. Now run along and play with your conservative bashing friends. The grown ups will clean up your mess.

I blame having a crappy nominee.

We had a "crappy nominee" during the last presidential election. Why did Rove hold his tongue?

Look at her wikipedia entry. She has exactly one thing in her background that indicated why she was worthy of support—she is a Christian.

Who, in their right mind, turns to wikipedia when they're looking for information on conservative candidates? Universities don't allow wiki as a source for research papers.

Manipulative liberals use wiki. It's an anti-conservative biased source. If you're looking for something to do with the periodic table of the elements, it's a safe source. If you're looking for information on a candidate, I'd prefer The Magic Eight Ball.

Now run along and play. The adults need to get to work mopping up after messy RINOs.

Blame the victim, Darkwolf377?

For some odd reason, Darkwolf377 is obsessed with Ms O'Donnell. It looks quite similar with the MSM's obsession with the (in their words) "irrelevant" Sara Palin.

Woofie,

If O'Donnell is so stupid and inept, why are you so focused on her? She lost the election (according to the reported tally). If you're correct, she'll fade away. Why won't you simply ignore her?

This total fantasy that Rove's stupid outburst somehow MADE the democrats run against her is utterly absurd.

In a winning organization, you praise publicly and reprimand privately.

Rove's ego as chooser of candidates outweighed his desire for a winning organization.

He trashed the candidate his parties constituents chose. If you can't see the problem with that behavior, you've got more issues than TV Guide.

By the way...Sarah Palin endorsed her. Why don't you criticize Sarah for linking O'Donnell to Palin?

I think Rove should be kicked out of the Republican Party and off of Fox News. He’s a back-stabber and a traitor to the Republicans and an obviously dishonest and self-interested “journalist”.

I think Rove is the Republican Party. It's time for the TEA Party to divorce the Republican Party.

We get to keep the house and the boat. They can keep the "Hope and Change."

Funny, they list that as her worst thing.

Good God, THAT lame-o move? When someone discusses an issue you're uncomfortable with, and you don't have anything with which to defend your position, you make it personal?

Thanks for admitting you've got nothing.

(Funny, you talk about being obsessed--how do YOU know I' m obsessed? Are you searching the site for all of my posts? Are you on every O'Donnell thread yourself--and yet *I* am obsessed? What does that make you?

You are so busy trying to make a personal attack you can't see what's right in front of your face: My reasons are plain as day--I keep stating them.

I focus on O'Donnell BECUASE she is so completely incompetent, BECAUSE she is stupid and inept, BECAUSE the media have fastened on her in their hateful way, hoping to use her to discredit the movement I belong to--are you seriously that unaware of the reality of this?

They tried it with Palin, and she had the smarts to make them look foolish, to gain power, to influence an election. I freely admit, I was a palin skeptic, but she showed she would work and come out in front of current issues while Romney and that bunch played the game and didn't do anything without testing the wind.

So now they're going to focus on O'Donnell, and for one reason--she IS what they claimed Palin was, and they will use her to hurt our side.

Sorry if caring about my country means I'm obsessed. Sorry if caring about high standards of those who would lead it and shape its laws.

But instead of your silly message board character crap, maybe YOU should become a little more obsessed with what the media are trying to do to us, and a little less obsessed with me.

Forget that she was ALWAYS behind in the race. No, Rove’s words struck like lightning, wiping out all her support.

Only a TROLL would say this is a good thing! Right Pali-Laddie?
