The overseer of Alaska elections says officials will begin counting write-in ballots in the Senate race Nov. 10 in Juneau.

Lt. Gov. Craig Campbell tells The Associated Press the intent is to give citizens and candidates a clearer sense of who the write-in vote getters are. Sen. Lisa Murkowski waged a write-in campaign in a bid to keep her job after losing the GOP primary to Joe Miller. She is among 160 qualified write-in candidates.

I am shocked that she could pull it off. It has never been done in modern times. Strom Thurmond did it many years ago under very different circumstances.

A bit of trivia regarding the 1954 Thurmond write-in win.

Guess who won the World Series that year?.... Yep the New York Giants. Who won this year?....... The San Francisco Giants. Different city but same franchise....

And now those seats are held by liberal Democrats who will support more spending, taxes, amnesty, etc.

I agree to a point, but if the candidate has to be isolated from the press because he/she is so prone to controversial statements, a professional campaign manager can’t work miracles.

If we want conservative policies implemented, we need to WIN RACES. Politics is not an academic exercise.

Jay Cost said it best:
“the GOP lost three Senate seats because of weak candidates. That’s just terrible. My basic feeling is that economic conservatism can be sold to the country without being watered down. It has happened many times before in the last 100 years. But you need candidates who can articulate the conservative case in a broad way, not a narrow way.
Conservatives are right to be worried about “establishment” Republicans.... But they should also worry about anti-establishment candidates who are not going to get to half-plus-one. And actually, for conservatives really to get stuff done, they need more than half-plus-one. Would Ronald Reagan have gotten his tax cut through in 1981 if he had won by two points and had lost 20 states? I doubt it.”

we lost 3 senate seats because of weak candidates? I thought we lost 6. Funny that ppl don’t want to say that other 3 were lost because they were weak even though they were supported by moderates. What I see is one way street. Moderates want Conservatives to vote for moderate candidates to win. But Moderates refuses to support conservative candidates to win. If winning is everything, then why the double standard

Connecticut and California are deep blue. How can you compare a losses there to Colorado and Nevada, which are purple?
The Nevada governor went Republican in a landslide while Angle was losing.
Your logic is flawed.

Reagan lost to Ford in the 76 primary. He was an awful choice, eh?

No, No, No not isolate; help them control how they present the message. We’ve go to understand most people don’t understand the Constitution or the concept of Limited Government. They’ve been educated by Govt Schools. It’s easy for us to be painted as “Kookie”. Take for example the Delaware debate and the “Separation Issue” and how the students laughed! Christine is right, but the students are don’t know because they’ve never heard the truth. We need to find a way to Sell our point of view. A salesman has to know their customer in order to get through to them.
