[snip]Reports in both the Russian and Chinese press speculate that when U.S. President Barack Obama visits India in November he "may secure $5 billion worth of arms sales," a deal that "would make the US replace Russia as Indias biggest arms supplier" and "help India curb Chinas rise."
[snip]"The Obama administration is trying to persuade New Delhi to buy American jet fighters instead [of Russian ones], a shift White House officials say would lead to closer military and political relations between India and the U.S. It would also be a bonanza for U.S. defense contractors, and [the White House] has dispatched senior officials such as Mr. Gates to New Delhi to deliver the message that Washington hopes India will choose American defense firms for major purchases in the years ahead."
[snip] The White House is negotiating new export control agreements with India to assist American arms firms to sell more high-technology weapons to the Asian nation.

With apologies to those of you who hate the blogs. I only snipped it because it's a long article, not because I am afraid to post the entire blog. I don't even know who this person is. I just wondered why we were spending so much money to send BO to India, and this is what I found.
The “profit” on the $5 billion in arms sale will be less than the cost of the trip.
Just what I was going to say. So, Obama “may secure $5 billion worth of arms sales”?
That’s nice. But the admitted cost of the trip is a billion dollars. And that’s probably an understatement.
Big deal.
I’ve got to say I’m glad to see him pay attention to India (though of course the entourage is ridiculous), given especially all his cuddling with his pals in Pokistawn.
Why? Because we are paying for it. I file it under waste, fraud and abuse, like the Spain trip for his wife, and entourage. Among other things.
Exactly. They could act serious about the debt and use "Go To Meeting" (only partly kidding) ...but no...I'm sure zero ....Dimmie or something. I suppose this is MO's consolation for having to work on the campaign...just like their NY date night was.
Perhaps he will prevail on the Indians to completely manufacture them there.
Exactly.
They could act serious about the debt and use "Go To Meeting" (only partly kidding) ...but no...I'm sure zero ....wanted to show the wookie the Taj Mahal and also during the Indian holiday...Dimmie or something. I suppose this is MO's consolation for having to work on the campaign...just like their NY date night was.
I said the exact same thing at dinner tonight. Use Gotomeeting and apply the savings to the debt.
If only...
0bama? He’s going the other side of the world from this:

The Federal Reserve Is Holding A Conference On Jekyll Island To Celebrate 100 Years Of Dominating America”
Published on 11-03-2010
“That is not a record to be celebrating.
The truth is that the Federal Reserve was created to enslave the United States government in an endlessly expanding spiral of debt from which it would never be able to escape. As I wrote about yesterday, that is exactly what has happened. The U.S. government debt is escalating at an exponential rate. It is a trap from which the U.S. government will never be able to get out of under our current system.”
You spoke my thoughts as soon as I read this. $200 mill a day? Really.
My thoughts exactly. I knew there was no way he was doing something that might be beneficial to American defense contractors (and their American employees). You can trust most assuredly that if he could outsource the jobs to the Indians, he would.
And likely, that is exactly what he will be negotiating to do.
Doesn’t it make you wonder what the total taxpayer tab for these past two years has become, including meals?? Think of all the trips, vacations, dates, and room service for Zero and Family trips??? I think most Americans would have a ‘cow’ if they knew the total!
Indians just bought $8 BILLION of coal power equipment from CHINA. This was on top of several BILLION of 3G wireless equipment.
Obama is spending $2 BILLION on his trip. He hopes to get $5 B of arms orders.
This is completely out of whack. As usual.
Just proves once again his lack of business experience. He seems to think it’s a good deal. But, actually, now that I think about it, he’s just doing what he’s always done: Screwing us over.
EXCELLENT QUESTION. And one that without a doubt deserves an answer and full accountability.
American Patriot missle, soon with new tag, ‘Made in India’.
But the White House says it’s about the Obama family celebrating Diwali in India! Aw, shucks, they fooled us again!!
$1+ billion in cost to secure $5 billion in sales?
My boss would cr@p if he saw that expense/sales ratio on my monthly report....
