Obama post-bloodbath: Harder to govern, easier to win in 2012
Chicago Sun-Times ^ | 11/3/10 | Lynn Sweet

Posted on 11/03/2010 8:51:51 AM PDT by Nachum

The Democratic slaughter Tuesday will make it harder for President Obama to govern -- but might make it easier for him to win re-election in 2012. The Obama White House will shift into re-election mode in a few months, and the 2012 presidential campaign headquarters will be Chicago again, if all goes as planned. But for now, a lot of attention on the political front will have to be on dealing with a GOP-controlled House and a Senate where Republican gains will make it harder to get the 60 votes needed to get anything done.

The newest talking point. The DemocRATs are blabbering on about how no US President ever lost reelection after losing the house.

We need to change this narrative.

Suntimes is a communist rag. The biggest cheerleader for Obama WAY before he ran is their lead columnist Lynn Sweet.

It’s called circling the wagons..they need to protect their idiot high priest for more damage. 6 million was the only difference in votes in 08 and let’s see their talking point come true in 10’.

“but might make it easier for him to win re-election in 2012?”

Why?....Will we become less of a socialist by then?

The house needs to go on the offensive,
passing easy to understand bills (repealing socialism),

and making the democRats block it or 0bama veto it.

Ohio Gone
PA gone

These are key states in the election. The path he used in ‘12 is obliterated.

Harry Reid the Albatros is STILL Senate leader. Can’t blame “DO Nothing Congress”. Obummer is in worse shape than if we took the Senate. This canard will not hold.

after House Republicans swept to power in 1994, Clinton won re-election in 1996 with 49.2 percent of the vote to 40.7 percent for then-Sen. Bob Dole and 8.4 percent for Ross Perot.
Against that dinosaur Dole. As Obama won in '08 against that dinosaur McCain.

I guess the Republicans should try to run a non-dinosaur in '12.

I wasn’t aware they ever LEFT that mode.

0 gets frustrated very easily. He’s not going to have the protection in Congress he’s had over the past 2 years. Issa has made it clear he’s going to be digging around from day 1. 0 is not Clinton and not nearly so adept at navigating a changing political landscape. Narcissists don’t do well when challenged. The American public is going to find out who this guy really is.

Excellent. I like it. I like it a lot. You wait, this will be repeated by Rush Limbaugh and Hannity.

I think you deserve a dime every time they use it. :)

Well, it’s a talking point, but likely correct nonetheless. I mean, if the Dems had retained control of Congress, can you just imagine the bizarre crap they’d have passed between now and 2012? The GOP win likely will stop the Dems from engaging in some truly horrific excesses such as cap and trade. And that, in the long run, may give Obama a better chance of winning in 2012 than he’d have had if Pelosi, Reid, etc., had remained in full command through the rest of his first term.

Good point.

RATs are delusional. Two years from now will be a similar wave of voting which will sweep Zero out of office.

Other great news for GOP are all the women, Hispanic, and African-Americans that picked up wins for the party. Eat into those groups and Dems’ are done.

This was huge though a clear rebuke of his agenda the only way I could envision him even having a chance is Iran. Even then it would be hard to distinguish the lessor of two evils.

Obama’s opportunity

Pelosi was Obama’s water boy for a lot of his dirty work. Who gets the job now?

The real narrative is that no DEMONRAT president other than FDR and X42 ever got RE-ELECTED in the 20th century!!

Wilson, Truman and LBJ were all re-elected, although the latter two after taking office as vice-presidents after the death of the president.
