Historic GOP Gains in State Legislatures
National Review Online ^ | 11/03/10 | John Hood

Posted on 11/03/2010 7:23:49 AM PDT by TonyInOhio

Still trying to chase down results in key legislative races around the country, but at the moment it looks like this:

• Going into the 2010 elections, Democrats held 60 partisan legislative chambers and Republicans held 36, with a couple of ties.

• It looks like the GOP has picked up an astounding 20 chambers, including both houses in Alabama, Maine, Minnesota, New Hampshire, North Carolina, and Wisconsin and additional chambers in Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Montana, New Hampshire, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.

• In total legislative seats, it is possible that after all the results are posted, Republicans will have won a nationwide majority.

• Republicans haven’t enjoyed this much power in state capitals since the 1920s.

This is perhaps the most important result of the election. The voters have overwhelmingly rejected the concentration of power in Washington and are relying on their state legislatures to retake local control of their governance.

Let the redistricting begin! :)

Republicans haven’t enjoyed this much power in state capitals since the 1920s.

And that was the last time the adults were in power and brought this country back to prosperity.

I pray that 1930s-redux isn't in our future, however.

I'm still laughing that Obama's seat in Illinois went to a Republican!! It would seem impoosible.

Maybe Rahm won't be mayor afterall.

WI now has a real chance of becoming a relevantincubator for business of all types again...if I were our newly elected Gov I would be cutting radio ads to run in both IL and CA using his new slogan “Wisconsin is Open for Business!!!!!”

Well, it seems that trying to sell the seat wasn’t a good idea after all.

YES!!!

This is what I’ve been trying to tell the doom and gloomers all morning. There is a visceral change underfoot, I know it and feel it.

I had no expectations for the deep blue areas. They are what they are and I feel bad for conservatives that are stuck in those areas. The fact that both houses in Minnesota went GOP was amazing to me this morning. I gave up around midnight last night and awoke to a glorious sunrise. :)

Let the redistricting begin! :)

This is an important point. The party that controls the 2010 redistricting process will dominate the House for the next ten years.

The Democrats got stomped in Tennessee’s state elections.

What a great point. One that can even benefit those of us stuck in blue states, so long as the red states stand firm on NO BAILOUTS for states with terminal financial outlooks like California or those soon to be like Massachusetts.

Make the voters in those states live with their decisions...no rescues, no bailouts.

We have got to make investigating, exposing, and prosecuting VOTER FRAUD a priority.

And much of this local turnover can be attributed to groups like the Tea Party, which has become involved at all levels of government.

That can’t and won’t happen until the SOS and AG are no longer Dems in MN.

Those constitutional offices are in charge of that and they hear no evil/see no evil as long as G.Soreass tell them to.

1. Voter photo ID laws. It’s TIME.

2. We need much better laws for fighting absentee fraud. Take the Bucks County, PA debacle as an example. I’d like to invite some discussion on this as we all know that the state Dem machines will be working overtime on fraud planning for 2012.

Michigan is open for business now also. For the first time in modern history, Republicans control everything in state government!

Governor (RINO barf), Attorney General, Sec of State, House, Senate, and the Supreme Court!

On my 7th district ballot, every single Republican won, even county offices.

Investigate, document, and go to We The People! Give the evidence to the Tea Party, Drudge, Rush, Malkin, Hannity, Levin. Exposure is what they can’t stand. Use proof of their illegal behavior and cover up to get them out of office next time around. These Elitists are not above the law when they’re exposed and proven guilty.

NC 12

North Carolina may be the most egregiously gerrymandered state. All the democRATs win 55% 45%. The couple of Republicans who win are 75% 25%.

That will soon change. Republicans control the NC state house and senate for the first time in 112 years!!!

This happened all around the country, and this is huge as there is redistricting up and coming due to census.

http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/252347/historic-gop-gains-state-legislatures-john-hood

The census is going to help the good guys/gals in 2012 as people have been fleeing leftist states and moving to nice conservative states because of lower taxes, nicer people, more jobs, more liberty, value for human life....

First up, save the Republic from the militant assult on liberty and life!!!!

Next up, Redistricting!!!!!

The way to truly get this country back is to do it from the bottom up...state and local. Power has been ceded to the Federal Government for decades, time to turn the boat around, and you actually do that from the bottom of the pyramid and work your way up IMO.

While the GOP was winning Presidential elections, liberals were destroying the country in the basement.

Ironic that the true power of the country was intended to be in the STATES (it really isn’t the basement). The growth of the Federal Government is truly ridiculous. Hopefully the states will become even more aggressive in taking their rightful power back.
