Nowhere will Nancy Pelosi's loss of the House speakership be felt more acutely than here in the Bay Area, where her power has been used to help steer hundreds of millions of dollars into infrastructure projects.
"It's difficult working the halls of Congress when you don't have the speaker of the House who understands specific facets of your region, and isn't there to help set up meetings," said Jim Wunderman, head of the Bay Area Council business group. "There will be a price to pay."
San Jose Mayor Chuck Reed said the loss would be felt in the South Bay as well.
"To the extent that there was an innovation agenda in the U.S. Congress, it really came out of Pelosi's office, along with Reps. Anna Eshoo and Zoe Lofgren," Reed said. "I doubt the new guy, John Boehner, is even going to understand what Silicon Valley is all about."

San Jose Mayor Chuck Reed said the loss would be felt in the South Bay as well. So.......your city can't function unless Nancy is squirting some mother's milk in your mouths? Friggin' ridiculous. Figure it out San Jose. Washington is not your sugar daddy.

Yeah, no more support from a speaker for those who do not wish to have a world war 2 museum, no more cover for those who ban the ROTC, no more watching her jump up and down like an organ grinders monkey when (o)bama visits the Congress. Yeah, I am really going to miss that.

Maybe the mayor of San Jose and the San Fran wackos will miss the botox queen, but with her favorable rating of 8 percent, I don’t think anyone else will.

Meg Whitman has strong ties to San Jose. Maybe you should have voted for her.

Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina are very well acquainted with Silicon Valley.

So, are they saying that the San Fran Bay area can’t compete against others without their having an insider’s advantage?

Why not put her to work cleaning human excrement from the San Francisco sidewalks--something she might be qualified to do?

where her power has been used to help steer hundreds of millions of dollars into infrastructure projects. Translation = where her position has been used to facilitate the transfer of wealth looted by the government to her backers.

Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina are very well acquainted with Silicon Valley. But, of course, the idiot voters were too stupid to elect them. California will soon collapse of its own weight. Memo to Boehner: NO BAILOUTS FOR CALIFORNIA.
