GARDEN CITY, Mo.| Vicky Hartzler taking advantage of central Missouris anger toward and distrust of government decisively upset 34-year U.S. House veteran Ike Skelton on Tuesday.
With all precincts reporting, unofficial results showed Hartzler with 113,500 votes, or just more than 50 percent. Skelton, the Democrat, had 101,507 votes, or 45 percent.
Ive told people all along that this district has been fed up and fired up and ready to stand up, and we did, Hartzler told cheering supporters.
Hartzlers victory was part of a huge nationwide sweep for her party, and reflected the strongly conservative nature of the 4th Congressional District.
Skelton had appealed for votes by pointing to his opposition to his partys health care reform and to his longtime support for the military. But it was not enough to overcome Hartzlers persistent criticism of his ties to the unpopular Democratic leadership in Congress.
He conceded the race shortly after 10:15 p.m., speaking to supporters in Lexington.

That made him a "Red" Skelton in my book.
He voted for it before he voted against it.
He was instrumental in keeping it alive. Nasti let him vote against it at the end to try to save his ass.
GOD bless you and your neighbor.
