Now that we control the governorship and both houses, one of the first orders of business should also be to convert Pennsylvania's electoral vote system from winner-take-all to the Maine and Nebraska system: 2 EV's allocated to the state's winner and one to the winner of each congressional district.
Such a move will change the entire presidential calculus as it will no longer be possible to manufacture enough votes in Philadelphia to swing the whole state.
Across the country, Republicans took over 500 statehouse seats.
A tsunami indeed.
I'm in PA 56, Casorio{D}, defeated by Dunbar {R} and last Saturday Casorio was going door to door and stopped at my house.
He is the only demonRAT I usually vote for, but not his year.
I really like the guy, hell, he played Little League Baseball for me, but it was time for a change.
Amen brother!!!
I'm going to email my brand new state house critter, Dunbar and put this on his list.
I think if we can get a candidate the quality of Pat Toomey, we can retire Jr. in 2012. One possible guy to do the job is Congressman Tim Murphy.
What's on the list? Here's my list:
1) get out of the coalition of states that pledged to adopt everything the California Carb board does
2) Follow Arizona's lead on illegal immigration
3) Repeal State-wide building codes
4) Replace everyone in DCNR - they're a hive of communists
5) ditto for DEP
6) stop increasing the taxes on gas!
7) Prosecute voter fraud everywhere in PA
8) Go after the fraud at the big banks in PA
That's just for starters ;-)
I agree on both counts. I'd rather have a 6 year Toomey stint in the Senate right now than a 2 year Adcock term in the House. Re-drawing district lines is a high priority, and hopefully we can improve the congressional outlook for 2012. I hope Dee will give it another go in 2012. He made a big impact under the circumstances, and I'd love to see him in office. He's a good man who fought a hard battle with integrity.
It was a big day in many ways. Very gratifying after the past few years. I'd like to see some serious attention paid to the fraud machines in places like Philadelphia.
Philadelphia will continue to be the tail that wags the dog until we deal with it as outlined in my post #21.
There sure is a lot of work to be done, but it feels better already.
55% turnout in my Township yesterday, voted 70 - 30 for the GOP.
55% is really great for a mid-term election, at least around here it is. Citizens were very motivated.
Perhaps the castle doctrine will actually be passed.
