VA-11 is extremely close; Fimian leading (!)
Virginia State Board of Elections ^ | November 2, 2010 | Virginia State Board of Elections

Connolly carried this district in 2008 by a pretty wide margin of 11.7% (54.7% - 43.0%).

With 57.14% reporting, Fimian holds a narrow lead (49.26% - 48.67%). Based on what I know about Fairfax politics, I'm not optimistic Fimian holds on, but I can hope.

I got more calls and mailers this election (most from Connolly) than I have ever gotten.

My mailbox was full - completely full - after I forgot to get it over the weekend. Insane. Regardless of who wins, the fact that Connolly and the Democrats had to pour money in here is a hopeful sign of the times.

A nailbiter. Less than 400 vote difference right now.

Sorry. Connolly is a career politician Democrat, and as Fairfax County Chairman he was a disaster (raising taxes left and right). Fimian ran unsuccessfully in 2008 and put together a decent campaign here this year. He’s actually a really nice guy and a solid conservative. The only thing the Democrats ran against him was the fact that he’s pro-life - which is odd because a) that’s a good thing and b) that’s really really low on the average voter’s list (at least this year).

I can tell you from living here that if VA-11 were to elect an actual conservative (not Tom Davis, who held it for a dozen years), it would represent a huge shift.

Fimian is leading in Fairfax County, but without knowing which precincts are reporting it's always difficult to tell what is up.

Not like there are jungles around here but there are.

Now at 68.45%, Fimian’s lead is 49.06% to Connolly’s 48.84%.

I doubt this will be decided until the very last precinct comes in.

Fimian (R) is beating the incumbent Connelly (D)- this is a RINO District, but Fimiam is a bit more conservative - Pro Oil, Pro Building a Wall on the border, etc

Fimian is behind in Fairfax County. The precincts are listed here.

Changes moment by moment. Canoli is reporting in traditionally "democrat" districts but the more conservative districts aren't reporting yet.

In years past we've had to wait for two days to get all the vote in and there's NO EXCUSE FOR THAT.

DeCarlo is, at this point, doing almost nothing besides draining votes from Fimian. He would’ve served a purpose running against Davis but there’s really no excuse for him this year in this environment.

Gerald E. “Gerry” Connolly 84,793 49.08%
Keith S. Fimian 84,377 48.84%

Precincts Reporting:
138 of 168 (82.14%)

This is probably going to a recount.
