Early Exits in PA: GOP Sweep
NRO ^

Posted on 11/02/2010 3:00:59 PM PDT by StopDemocratsDotCom

Okay, I’m posting this with the insistence that everybody understand this for what it is: An exit poll, conducted by a college-associated polling institute (Muhlenberg), done from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. this morning in Pennsylvania:

Turnout: 47 percent Republican, 47 percent Democrat, 6 percent independent.

Senate: Pat Toomey (R) 51 percent, Joe Sestak (D) 47 percent

Governor: Tom Corbett (R) 55 percent, Dan Onorato (D) 43 percent

15th congressional fistrict: Charlie Dent (R) 53 percent, John Callahan (D) 42 percent

Obviously, things can change in the midday, afternoon and evening votes . . .

Looking good so far. Hope Toomey extends that lead a bit, but so far, I’m hopeful.

I have never understood why Sestak is so close while the other margins are so great.

returns from PA in the last election were a republican sweep of everywhere but Philly and pittsburg. The dems won.

It’s a good point, but I’m even more interested in if the sampling really represented the rest of the likely voters for the state.

It looks good.... Sestak is underperforming and Toomey will get into the Senate. No more Specter!

2008? I thought that much of the Southeast PA went for Obama. Not just Philly, but the counties around it, up to Lehigh.
And if I recall correctly, Southwest PA is going Republican. I think only Allegheny went D last time. Could be mistaken.

We certainly hope the numbers hold up. Of course, this could just mean that republicans get out of bed earlier than Democrats in that part of PA.

I looked at this poll earlier. The sample is small and seems overweighted towards whites. I would not rely on this poll.

Usually early exit polls favor dems since republicans can’t vote until after work

If you mean the “China” ads, they are by the DSCC, not Sestak.

There are several that are not by Joe Sestak himself, but just attack Pat Toomey. I realized I wasn't clear but it was too late (ever hope that the delay after you hit "Post" turns out to be an error so you can fix what you left out? :-)

But in any case, there are ones tying Pat Toomey to all kinds of things, from China to Christine O'Donnell. They have taken a toll.
