MASSILLON, OH Voting at Smith Elementary School in Massillon was delayed for a brief time this morning because a poll workers car, containing a voter signature book, ballot transfer case and paper canisters, was stolen just as she was preparing to drive to the polling location.
Massillon police reports indicate the poll worker, a 2nd Street Northeast woman, had started the car to warm it up around 5 a.m. and went back inside her residence for a moment. When she returned, she saw a man wearing a yellow shirt in the drivers seat. When she yelled at the man, he put the car in gear and fled north on 2nd and turned east on Cherry Avenue Northeast.

"yellow shirt?....prolly some clown thinking he can sell votes...?????...wait they do"
Maybe it was planned
Why would a poll worker have taken a Voter Signature book and the other materials home with her?
What are the controls on these things prior to an election?
And I’m sure that box is now stuffed with ballots. All voting the “correct way” of course.
It would be a fairly good plot to steal the car the voting machine governor carts inside, program the carts to tell the machines to change Republican votes to Democrat votes and then let the car with the altered carts be recovered with all of the contents intact.
I smell a ‘rat.
I think historians will ultimately identify the Democrat voter fraud insurgency of November 2000 as one of the earliest battles of the second patriotic revolution - the resistance surprised the democrats and proved to be a devastating set back for them. Ultimately however, many Republicans squandered that victory and surrendered control back to the Democrats because they were afraid they would not be liked.
They are not the originals and would have very little value to a common thief.
They are copies of the signature books of the people that voted from the last time they voted an election along with their name and address.
It would not be uncommon for a poll worker to take them home the night before election. It can be a long drive from the county seat office to the local poll.
Yellow shirt?
Just to correct you for the sake of accuracy as I was there when it happened and intimately involved in the 36 day aftermath of the “attempted coup” in Palm Beach County, Election 2000.
A functioning Votematic machine was found in the trunk of State Senator Irv Slosberg - Democrat, Boca Raton.
Yes, this story made the rounds for one or two news cycles and then disappeared from the local news and it never really made the national news.
Thank you.
You’re welcome....btw, if you google Slosberg + votematic, you can find what little was reported about it.
It did make the local TV - I was living in Boca Raton at the time - for maybe 24/36 hours before the quash it order came from wherever!
Massillon was the hometown of my boyhood’s favorite baseball player: Mike Hershberger of the White Sox. He had a cannon of an arm from right field.
That is my question too.As a former Poll worker in OHio befoe Strickland took over these items were to be delievered to the polling plce and locked in over night along with the open ballot box which would be verifed by all 4 poll workers about it being empty before it was padlocked to recived ballots.
