As Toby Harnden reports, Hillary Clinton has opted to stay well clear of today’s midterms, sitting them out in a two-week tour of Asia and Australasia. In fact she’s been as elusive as the Scarlet Pimpernel in the past few days. That’s a perfectly astute move from her point of view. Firstly, she can argue, it’s her job as Secretary of State to represent America on the world stage, and should be above the fray of domestic politics. Secondly, almost every poll is pointing to electoral disaster for her party as well as her administration, and the safest option is to be as far away as possible when the political tsunami hits.
But while she is geographically placing thousands of miles between herself and President Obama at a seminal moment in American history, Hillary Clinton cannot separate her own policies and leadership from the turmoil that is sweeping the White House.
...It is hard to think of a single foreign policy success this administration has achieved with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama at the helm. Its hallmarks have been the appeasement of America’s enemies, groveling apologies before foreign audiences, the undermining of key alliances, and an embrace of supranational institutions that undercut US sovereignty. Important friends such as Great Britain and Israel have been slapped in the face, while deadly adversaries like Iran have been extended the hand of friendship. Frankly, I’m not surprised the Secretary of State has been all but invisible in the US media recently – after all, it’s difficult to defend a record of failure.

She is hiding because she does not want to be associated with the results of this election.
She’s sharpening her claws and dreaming about dining on revenge. She’s a bigger threat to Obama than anyone who gets elected today.
She is being low-key during the fall-out so she can ride in and be the democratic savior in 2012 with a see I told you so campaign.
She’s beginning to distance herself....because she plans to run in 2012.
And remember....she won’t be all that much better than Obama!

Yup - if you’ve noticed, she has started using Hillary Rodham Clinton again. She’s rebranding.
She’s runnung in 2012. She’s in seclusion recovering from cankle reduction surgery. The skirts will be coming out of the closet!
Someone needs to tell the author, she doesn’t have a foreign policy, she works for the precious.

I personally don’t think Hillary has enough power in that administration to tie her shoes. Not to defend her, she would be terrible, but to me the idea she is making any real decisions about anything is laughable. Obama’s admin is just not set up that way.
He put her in a closet with a nice placard on the outside.
You never hear peep from Hillary. Remember the Mad Hatter as Sec. of State? (Albright) She was on television 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Every day she was on, with her lapel pin of the day, spouting her views as to why she was justified in bombing this country or that country as she went about her mad bombing spree. Not saying I miss her, just pointing out the contrast.
I heard she was in training for an audition as the Busch Beer Wagon lead horse...
When we are borrowing about 37 cents for every dollar we spend, she is out pledging millions of US dollars to other countries for cook stoves. The state department has complained about AZ human rights to China and in a report to the UN. She doesn't get a pass.
It may be a very good strategy to start emphasizing the failures of Hillary Chavez Clinton. A bit of prevention eliminating the need for a pound of cure...
the foreign policy is not Hillary’s but Obamarx’s as he is the president. (shocked at myself for defending hillary)
She has stated —the UN is the single most important global institution. — think she believes it and would welcome shifting more power and US dollars to them.
It could also be that she is setting the stage for bigger things:

Plausible Deniability.I wasn’t even in the Country— don’t blame me.... It’s all Obama’s fault— It’s that Right wing conspiracy I was talking about....vote for Me in 2012 and I will make it all better.
