In the 1980s, a Pantene hair product commercial featuring a gorgeous woman with the name Rula Lenska and a slight, very sultry accent opened with the line "Don't hate me because I'm beautiful."

Actually, no. In fact, one of the first signs that I was getting old was when Mrs. Howell started looking good.
Well...Rula was ahead of the Fashionista curve. Like our beloved FLOTUS, Rula is a champion of the ‘boobbelt.’
Reading the other posts and re-reading the Wikipedia entry, and googling “Don’t hate me because I’m beautiful,” it appears that two ikons of the pop culture have been mixed together.
BTW Having googled the expression, I can report that references to “Don’t hate me because I’m beautiful” are all over the place. There are business women who think it creates a “glass ceiling.” Actresses who think it precludes them from getting parts. Even, women who think their husbands cheat on them because they are so attractive.
Hilarious but cruel.
Well that is one right the government hasn’t gone after yet. To each his own. :-)
Democrats hate them because ours don’t chase cars.
Maybe I’m just eccentric, but I find the version on the left more attractive than the one on the right. The “natural” girl comes across as more emotionally mature, warm and self-confident. The one on the right reminds me of a circus clown.
but how does this explain the huge women wearing gigantic diamond rings I see in Nordstroms?
Rush always said that NOW was founded by ugly women for ugly women. He might have a point there. Just look at foxes on FOX News -
Gretchen Carlson, Molly Line, Courtney Friel, Julie Banderas, Megyn Kelly, Patti Ann Browne, Jenna Lee, Kimberly Guilfoyle, Shannon Breem, Martha MacCallum, Jamie Colby, Ainsley Earhardt, Alisyn Camerota, Cheryl Casone, Claudia Cowan, Heather Nauert, Rebecca Diamond, Molly Henneberg, and others.
This wouldn’t be complete without mentioning other foxy FOX News regulars - S.E. Cupp, Dana Perino, Michelle Malkin, Sarah Palin, Kirsten Powers, Margaret Hoover, and Michele Bachmann.
Republicans seem to have the monopoly on pretty, intelligent, respectable, and successful women.
Dems seem to have a monopoly on gargoyles. Tune in to CNN and MSNBC to see a barnyard full of gargoyles. Candy Crowley, Christiane Amanpour, and Joy Behar are the gargoyles that come to mind this day after Halloween.
A squirrel can often find a nut many miles from a tree. ;-)
Billy Lee Riley. Sun Records.
It's the money factor...
What Mr. Howell would have referred to as "Ginger-bread."
Funny side note, at Ruby Tuesdays their guidlines strongly sugguest the use of makeup!
Someone said it in a different way up-thread, but,
my way of putting it is that
the ugly that is in the heart oozes through and becomes visible.
That’s a man baby!
I’m partial to RG’s version.
I don’t know, if we work hard enough we can hijack this thread and turn this into a WBTS thread.
