Republicans stood by Alaska Senate candidate Joe Miller Sunday, denying a claim that the party had given up hope that he can beat write-in candidate Lisa Murkowski, as polls show the GOP nominee slipping.
Murkowski, the incumbent senator, launched a write-in campaign after losing to Miller in the Republican primary. Such campaigns are rarely successful in part because the names of write-in candidates do not show up on the ballot -- the state Supreme Court ruled Friday, though, that the write-in list could be provided in limited cases on Election Day.

"I think that polls are very close now between Senator Murkowski and Joe Miller, and what we want to make sure of is that the Democrat doesn't win"
....you just know they're pulling for Murkowski
Who would make such a claim?
Oh, right. The Corrupt Bastard System.
Why is that skank even in the race she lost!
This hoax wasn’t even meant to fool you, just to fill up the Sunday talk shows with denials instead of discussion of Dem failure.
it’s over now. New hoax coming up.
Give up on Miller? Who would even make that suggestion?
We the Tea Party are going to win this thing despite the GOP, then we’re going to kick their RINO donkeys next!!
Rebellion is brewing!!
Vote the corrupt bastards OUT!!
I fully agree.
However, honesty compels me to mention that Miller’s campaign post-primary has been less than stellar. Hell, in many ways it has been invisible. I think they bought into the comfortable notion that “write-ins never win” and let their boilers cool a bit too much.
I pray he wins, but at this point I won’t make any bets.
Alaskans told Morkwaski in the primaries that they didn’t need her services anymore. I guess she’s got a thick skull and just isn’t going to go away. She’s another Florida Orange Crisp.
Only one U.S. Senator in history has been elected via a write-in campaign - Strom Thurmond. Lisa ain’t Strom.
I'm not 100% sure I understand the logic but I think it's to prevent right-wing, wacko, obstructionist, malcontent Tea Partiers from running third party candidates.

Joe Miller's facebook.
“While I'm sure ABC News enjoyed leading Politico's Playbook this morning, it might have been more useful if they had actually taken a moment to contact the NRSC, but he's actually featured prominently in our TV ad which is running still today statewide in Alaska.”
It’s like Fox is reading Politico’s playbook too. They ran the same “Is the GOP abadoning Miller” caption for their 120 second story this AM and cited no sources whatsoever.
Are we really so sure Miller isn't cratering in Alaska?
I am beginning to get the impression he might be. I mean, was this issue with his work history reprimand a really huge deal in Alaska? Still wondering why he didn't come clean about it earlier instead or rolling the dice that a court wouldn't force his hand.
They are hedging their bets.. like all good politicians
I have noticed the Fox weekend staff are all good Dems !
In each, the media narrative is the same - the candidate is an inept campaigner running an inept campaign.
I suppose its inevitable - our political races are still conducted for the most part in the US press, and its obvious the media will try to make the other guy look as poor as possible.
Question is, when will we stop taking the media's word for it?
I posted thew following yesterday on my blog for the 3rd time, the treatment of miller by leadership is all you need to know about what is wrong at the NRSC:
THIRD AND FINAL NOTICE
The Republican-In-Name-Only Re-Education Committee of 2011
"We come in peace, we didn't bring artillery. But we are pleading with you with tears in our eyes: If you f**k with us, we'll kill you all in the next election."*
To: The NRSC
From: The RINO Re-Education Committe of 2011
You announced a while back you would not vacate Lisa "Rules are For Other People" Murkowski from her leadership or committee assignments. This reportedly came from Mitch "Ignore the Tea Party Maybe They'll Go Away" McConnell, and everybody's fav - John "A Day Without Betraying Core Priniciples is a Day Without Sunshine" Cornyn.
Both of these "men", the NRSC, and every other repitilian no-show republican have effectively been put on notice.
This is your third notice.
Come out strongly IN THE NEXT 24 HOURS (by 2359 10.31.10) against Murkowski, remove her from all leadership and committee assignments, endorse Miller again and mean it this time, and pour some of your cha-ching into Miller's campaign, soon and bigtime.
FAILURE TO DO SO GUARANTEES PROBLEMATIC SCENARIOS IN THE FUTURE FOR ALL INVOLVED.
THIS MEANS YOU.
WE DON'T FORGET. WE DON'T FORGET.
WE. DON'T. FORGET.
p.s. and get some ads - and some campaign appearances - out there for Miller that aren't for the soggy-toast-and-lukewarm-tea crowd... get some edge. get it now.

NOVEMBER IS HERE...
Point taken.
The recent fiasco with the two CBS affiliated “journalists” plotting to create a scandal at a Miller event makes it clear that we are going to have to continue to slap the media around until it either does its job correctly or goes away completely.
