I was going to post this before, but since our military has such tight ROE that stink, why don’t they set up these cameras on 2 scopes? Just an idea, since I’ve heard of the taliban hiding their guns in hay and pretending to be farmers, or whatever.

A couple, of seasoned Israeli profilers stationed at every airport entrance, ticket counter, and checkpoint would do more to make us safe than letting an army of affirmative action ignoramuses play virtual full frontal with us and our children, grope Grandma's tats, and force blind veterans to check their white canes with the baggage.

My own sixth sense - heck, my own five senses and my common sense - and yours too - could do this stuff more easily and cheaply.

Any society that has to rely of this kind of stuff after allowing and encouraging muslims to live among them and fly on their planes needs to have it’s head examined.

And I agree with the poster who says this will be used against us. Just use the 8 bazillion cameras already pointed at us to ensure our “freedom from terror.”

The problem for US Forces is the majority of resources going to Afghanistan are being directed to maintain security and housing for the Rear Echelon... for “Hearts and Minds” nonsense.. Lawyers and other Pentagon Staff weenies who want to get their “Combat Badge” roll in and out of Afghanistan doing crap like providing classes on Western Legal Theory and Justice to Islamic Tribal Chiefs (who of course are only there because they get paid some cash one way or another).

All those Chairborne Warriors need a place to stay right? A place to take their baths, Hot food, Wash their pretty little uniforms right? Of course they need a large security contingent to move their sorry selves from one location to another and keep them safe. All those resources do not make it to the Combat Troops now do they?

Next come some Public Affairs Officers instructed by one of our Faux Generals to engage in a serious “Hearts and Minds” Campaign.. as if a bunch of people living in Mud Huts with a 7th Century mentality are going to be swayed by our “ being nice” So he/she gets it into their mind they want to build a kids School, medical facility (How nice).. They can do it two ways.. Hire some locals to build it for a relatively low price or make it into a real big deal by misdirecting a Battalion of Combat Engineers to build/supervise involve themselves in the same project... Send photographers to take pictures, put on a PR Blitz and look good to the Pentagon and the Press.

Well of course they pick the Combat Engineer Battalion.. because the other does little for ones career. What that means in the real world is that Combat Engineer Battalion cannot do it's proper job of building and enhancing the physical security of Forward Operating Bases and other places where GIs are actually engaged in Combat Operations.

Every pound of Crap that goes to Officers and Rear Echelon Folks in the major Bases takes away from that which is available to the Line folks..

Ask yourself why do you not see thermal heads pulled from M60 A3 series Tanks at most of the Forward Operating Bases? (Heck you see at least a few of them (probably thanks to the original Duncan Hunter) with the Border Patrol... but not our line troops) How many of our bases must rely on conventional Night Vision devices rather than thermal imagers (which enhance security and targeting day and night)?

Where are all those other “High Tech Surveillance Platforms when small groups of GIs on the front lines are being pounded by the Taliban? Answer: Doing "more important things" of course.

Question: Where did all the lower level surveillance systems go? Those much touted small RPVs, Seismic Sensor packages an such? Simple Stuff Smaller units can put to use and manage.

Answer: some Jag Officer needed a second duffel bag of books, a copy machine and a few hundred pounds of paper to teach 7th Century Tribal Chieftains Modern Western Justice Theory...

Until we retire 700 of the 900 some US Generals and Admirals for whom “Victory is not an Option”, retire 20,000 Majors thru Cols (retire not dump on the street).

Until we are mature enough to admit women can do most things but there are many things required in an Army they cannot do. Until we have adults in charge who have the decency to make the call where women enhance the mission deploy them, where they detract from the mission remove them regardless of their feelings or that of a PC driven Crap Congress.

Our Military will remain literally upside down.

For all the talk of “Supporting the Troops” the actual Line Guys are last to receive the best of anything and they will continue to be shortchanged on what is actually available for them to do the job.

What can change the situation for the better? Your and my imperfect yet essentially correct comprehension of the problem and the the application of political pressure to change the priorities of our Senior Officials Elected, Appointed and in Flag Officer Ranks.

They are more sensitive to this sort of criticism than you might imagine.. A letter to your Congressmen a Phone call asking that priorities be changed, that Combat Troops be the first provided for.. Request that our Officers seek victory and subject them to public ridicule when they speak of things like .. "The Long War" "Hearts and Minds" (Now H&M Variants, the phony H&M Doctrine having been exposed is now morphing like the "Thing" essentially intact.

Your critique and public criticism has the greatest impact.

Never let some "Professional" try to intimidate you into silence with regards to the utilization, deployment and operation of the US Military.. Average people solve problems everyday in life .. Military problems are no different than others. The solutions are nearly always common sense based. You are perfectly capable of thinking them thru and resolving them in most cases.

For example: Before in Iraq and now in Afghanistan the enemy killed/kills more GIs using the same techniques American Game Hunters employ when hunting Deer or Elk.

The bad guys pick a known route of travel, they mine it. Often they get into a hide and observe using a command detonated system.

Joe Sixpack hunts Elk or Deer pretty much the same way. Finds a place where Deer or Elk pass by sets up a blind and waits.

As long as American Troops are stuck on roads and trails due to the incompetent decision making process of Flag Officers who put them in Road and Trail bound Wheeled Vehicles the Taliban will easily kill American GIs stuck on those roads or trails.

It is not a matter of making Wheeled Crap-mobiles bigger it is a matter of getting off the roads and trails which requires the use of Tracked Vehicles not wheeled removing that predictability in US force movements. This would require those Flag Officers to admit their whole light fighter doctrine is really in the crapper and has failed).

Our problems when dealing with the enemy involve our leaders unwillingness to make honest assessments and make reasonable adjustments. Our problem lies in Senior Officers for whom everyone and everything else (from Woman's Rights to who gets the next contract for an Up-armored Wheeled Crap-mobile) matters most of all. Our problem lies in Flag Officers for whom everything else but Victory is a priority.
