Television comedians Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert drew tens of thousands of people to the National Mall on Saturday, promising to skewer partisan politics three days before contentious U.S. elections.
The Comedy Central hosts' "Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear" started off as part slapstick comedy show and part outdoor festival concert.
Stewart opened the festivities by declaring that "10 million" people showed up, representing all ethnic groups in America.
"It is a perfect demographic sampling of the American people," said Stewart, who hosted U.S. President Barack Obama on his show on Wednesday.
"As you know, if you have too many white people at your rally, then your cause is racist, but if you have too many people of color at your rally, then you must be asking for something: special rights -- like eating in restaurants or piggy back rides -- something that we as a society are not ready to give," he added.
The rally, widely viewed as a response to "August's "Restoring Honor" rally organized by conservative talk show host Glenn Beck, blurred the lines between satire and political activism.

Done. I sent it to my friends as “The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere 2010” and suggested that they pass the alarm for the sake of Freedom.
Thanks Cardhu. I’m interested to see the after the rally pictures of the grounds right after the event.
Looks like a pretty good crowd is there, but hard to tell how many.
C-Span jumped the shark many moons ago.(a little Indian lingo).
It has become unwatchable.
The footage I saw on Fox looked like a pretty sparse crowd.
Also, in the footage I saw, it looked like Colbert was really making an ass of himslef just as he did when he went to congress a couple weeks ago.
“You are right”
Please explain what we’re being “convinced” of. For instance, what does ‘much larger’ even mean? 400,000 (Stewart) vs. 300,000 (Beck) or 500K v. 400K, and what about Promise Keepers, etc?
Basic salient point was tweeted today - ‘clever signs don’t vote or man phone banks’
“It indicates to me that the folks who showed up at this have already resigned themselves to defeat.”
Right. They can all feel all loosy goosy about a big crowd...just before the giant wave smacks ‘em in the face...small consolation...
Pray for America.
“Also, in the footage I saw, it looked like Colbert was really making an ass of himslef just as he did when he went to congress a couple weeks ago.”
That’s Colbert’s whole act. It’s good for a laugh once, but you’d have to be a moron to watch him night after night.
I hope all those a-holes are still hungover Wednesday after we sane people have elected the right folks on Tuesday.
I want Christine O’Donnell to win so badly, if only so I can watch libtard heads exploding all over my TV.
A lame title for an article about a lame event! A rally of stamp collectors on the Mall would “draw thousands.”
Bwaaaaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!LIB/Moonbat/Assclown losers all. Bwahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
And what else is comical is their emphasis on the symbolism of Beck’s much greater draw. They will not focus on WHY the conservative got such a huge crowd. No. Their thinking is, “How can we scam a buncha people to come here so we can diminish Beck?”
There were nothing but clowns up on that stage and losers in the audience.
What do you make of this above? Now granted, Beck’s rally had the pool in the middle - but still encompassed a much larger area, even given that. Also Stewart’s rally, had many treelines and other encumbrances also...

Voter fraud hotline bump! Important info to have thanks.
“I want Christine ODonnell to win so badly, if only so I can watch libtard heads exploding all over my TV.”
Right. Wouldn’t that be sweet?!
I want her to win, too, very much, but it’s ain’t gonna happen.
“Big deal, we already know there are millions of losers in this country, it doesnt make them any more right.”
Right!
PS: on your tagline - you guys beat the Yankees - that’s success right there...:)
“Im surprised they got that many.”
Huffington bussed in 10,000 herself...you can get a lot more if its free...loafers and freeloaders and liberal snots...;)
I only saw white people.
‘those of us with critical thinking skills’
Wonder how they’ll put their critical thinking skills to work on Wed. evaluating what’s left?
