Republican candidate Dan Maes now has just single-digit support, but Democrat John Hickenlooper still holds a slight lead over independent candidate Tom Tancredo in Colorados race for governor.
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in the state shows Hickenlooper with a 47% to 42% lead over Tancredo, a former GOP congressman now running as the candidate of the American Constitution Party. Maes trails with five percent (5%) support. Six percent (6%) like some other candidate in the race, and one percent (1%) is undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
This is the best showing yet for both Hickenlooper and Tancredo, and the race moves back to Leans Democrat in the Rasmussen Reports Election 2010 Gubernatorial Scorecard. Two weeks ago, Hickenlooper, the mayor of Denver, held a 42% to 38% lead over Tancredo, with Maes at 12.
Support for Tancredo who entered the race saying Maes cannot beat Hickenlooper has risen from 14% in late August, while Maes support has dropped from a high of 31% just after his GOP Primary win earlier that month. In that same period, Hickenloopers support has generally held steady in the low to mid 40s.

GO Tancredo!
Pray Tancredo wins!
Well, unless Maes drops out and/or it’s closer than the polls suggest, the numbers aren’t there. All about turnout in the end.
This may be a case of down ticket ISSUES being the final straw to tip to the conservative side. There is a constitutional amendment on the ballot to declare “personhood” from the moment of conception. This may bring out enough social conservatives that this may tip the favor to Buck and Tancredo.
The mo is in Tancredo's direction but he has to make a lot of ground by Tuesday.
I had the TV on earlier while I was working. There was a Hickenlooper commercial on as my husband walked by. My husband caught a moment of the commercial and made a comment about how awful Hickenlooper looked - sick and thin.
I caught the commercial again later and my husband is right. Hickenlooper didn't look good at all.
Hopefully, it's just stress, but he really does look terrible.

Hickenlooper is going to be in El Paso County (Colorado Springs) Saturday. He has spent almost no time here during his campaign, even though El Paso has the 2nd highest population of any county in Colorado. We're very conservative, though, and he probably knows he doesn't have much of a chance here.
I pray that El Paso County and counties in more rural areas are enough to tip the scales toward Tancredo.
Below are Maes’ Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and campaign sites.
Please consider politely asking him to resign for the good of Colorado.

On his Facebook page, notice that he only updates occasionally, ever few days.
On his Twitter page, the last “tweet” was seven days ago.
Hardly the actions of a serious candidate.
If Tancredo loses by a small margin, it’ll be because of Maes refusing to drop out.
I found that ad very condescending to rural CO. The premise is that the only thing rural voters in the state care about is if the candidate they vote for can ride a horse.
A third party conservative has never won an election. Conservatives in my state are flocking to Tancredo. Maes has no support here.
Can he beat Hickenlooper? We’ll see on Tuesday.
Perhaps the ad's message is, "See? I'm really just an @$$, not the horse's @$$ people think I am!"
I live downstate and people are offended by a Denver lefty’s characterization of us. We in the mountains and the plains are stupid hayseed hicks who only know how to ride a horse!
Yeah, sure.
I would bet that CO surprises conservatives Tuesday and goes liberal for both offices, governor and sentor. This Buck has run a bad campaign, hasn’t he?
I voted for Tom Tancredo He was the only choice I believe I had that could get elected. My fear is America has become increasingly divided The rift seen during the Vietnam era has NEVER been closed—only ignored. whoever gets elected it seems will have the task of leading a House divided And Lincoln rightly cited the authority of Scripture on that idea.
Later today I will be praying with others for America. As is my
habit— I will Pray Gods will be done—and we given the eyes to see-and the wits to understand how to deal with the mess we allowed.
Adding my prayers to yours.
Maes needs to man up and drop out, endorsing Tom.
Wouldn’t do any good if Maes did drop out now. A lot of Coloradans vote by mail, and ballots have to be mailed by today to arrive in time to be valid. A large percentage of the voting is already done.
I have noticed something strange about the Hickenlooper campaign coverage. He is not smiling and looks pained, even. He is not enjoying this and almost seems like he doesn’t want it. Is he ill? Does he not want to to it? Does his family want him not to do it? Something is going on.
