I have been a poll watcher this week and there is no way I would have been allowed in the area where people were actually voting.

So, just out of curiosity, what are you watching then?

I can’t go into the actual voting section of the room where the people are standing at the booths and voting. I am positioned where folks are checking in and I watch that process. I am also very close to the machines where the ballots are inserted. I am in the polling room, so I occasionally go outside and check to see that people outside are following the rules. I just cannot go stand behind the voters as they mark their ballots. I can watch for people showing proper id, turning in their absentee ballots either to be counted or destroyed if they decide to vote in person, people “helping” other people vote, one party being treated differently than another, people campaigning in the polling room, people violating the no-campaigning area outside....there’s more, of course. It has been a good experience and I expect it will be intense on Tuesday!
