(CNN) - A surprising new Senate poll in Delaware shows Republican Christine O'Donnell may be in striking distance of Democrat Chris Coons.
According to the new survey from Monmouth University, the surprise Republican nominee is only 10 points behind Coons, drawing 41 percent of the vote. In a previous Monmouth poll conducted two weeks ago, O'Donnell trailed by 19 points.
But the latest Monmouth survey differs substantially from two other recent polls, including a Farleigh Dickinson survey released Thursday that showed a 21-point advantage for Coons and a CNN/Time poll released earlier this month that indicated a 19-point lead for Coons.
The latest Monmouth poll surveyed 1,171 voters between October 25-27 and carries a sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

You are so, so right on this. It’s not always the final vote that counts, it’s WHAT IT COSTS YOUR OPPOSITION.
Christine has done just an awesome, awesome job. I heard her on Hannity tonight and she has transformed over the last several weeks. She sounded poised, confident, and on message. She has been the lightning rod for this election, and has taken the abuse with remarkable class.
Traitor? Why give him such a praiseworthy title? Why honor him? By doing so you unfairly besmirch the reputations of upstanding traitors such as Benedict Arnold and Vidkun Quisling.
“Karl is basically ignoring Christine.”
Publically, yes. But behind the scenes, who knows?
Either you’re kidding or you’re insane.
WAY out of line, IMO.
O'Reilly gave Rove TWO chances on this evening's show to apologize/endorse Christine, and he still wouldn't do it...Rove is not an ally of conservatives.
No rain in the forecast but it’s expected to be cold on the East Coast.
It's been my experience that if these national polls (on average) have her down by 10 or more points then she is in reality likely only down by about 3 to 5 points. She can pull it off IF she can get a decent turn out.
Bingo! Prior to this election we have to battle the Dems. Post election we'll be battling the RINO's until the next election cycle in 2012.
yup. many many beneficial results.
The FDU poll had many more Ds than Rs. Way too many.
Unless they think there will be no “wave” at all. They normed it to +17 D I believe. That’s what it was when every last college student was voting for Obama, and the Rs were very discouraged by McCain.
On the upside, I’d take FDU’s 76% of Republicans over Monmouths 71%.
Monmouth has a much more favorable version of turnout assumptions, and for that reason, the numbers are closer.
TCJ Poll Delaware Senate:
Our polling for this race has largely shown a result thats more favorable to ODonnell, though recent polling by Tea Party Express has corroborated our 6-point ODonnell deficit. Polls that give Coons a lead of 18, 19, and 20 points are, much like in the case of the California races, using inaccurate numbers to represent the composition of voters. For example, the Fairleigh Dickinson poll released today showed ODonnell down 21 points, largely because, as the poll showed, ODonnell was only shown to be receiving support from only 74% of conservatives. In our poll, ODonnell was shown to receive support from 89% of voters who identify themselves as conservatives. The discrepancy, it seems, could stem from the date of the Dickinson poll; it was taken over 6 days from October 20 to 26. During that time span, ODonnell has gained traction by showing that she isnt quite as crazy as the media would like for you to believe. Additionally, our poll shows less of a gap between Coons and ODonnell among unaffiliated voters, though Coons does still hold a lead. The likely voter electorate was composed of 32%-Republicans, 43%- Democrats, 24%- Independents.
Soooooo, guess what is going to happen - first I'm getting another one, then I am calling EVERYONE living on my whole road and cross roads (white pages lookup) and will relate that the Coons Goons may have stolen my sign, I want them to go to the poll and if I have to, I will drag them there - no excuses!!! They mostly know I am 6'3" 265# and can do it too... Again NO EXCUSES!!!
Now how will they factor that motivation into their equation!!!!!
Woo Hoo ! You go, girl!!!
Go, Christine! We have enough marxists!!!
yes, for the TEA party, fighting RINOs seems to be its biggest current challenge, and after the election, the challenge will increase 10 fold.
I am sickened that the GOP has not maneuvered more in Alaska, and sickened at what they are doing here.
Sickened that they have not put Nevada corruption at the forefront. Instead of talking about dumb crap, every R should be out hammering Reid and this commie she is running against.
The establishment is working with dems on this election cycle, and fear the TEA party more than the donkey party. They can work with the dems, gerrymander, and play all sorts of rope-a-dope on the public, to keep their jobs, but the TEA party is not going to have any of that, so they fear them the most.
I really would like to see the RINOs defeated, all of them, every last one tossed out, by 2012. Take this party back, and start working against the socialists, instead of reaching across the isle with them.
I’d be furious too! You’re doing such good work.
She’s going to win. There can’t be enough idiot Marxists in your state to elect Coons.
Go Delawhere!
GO CHRISTINE!
Sarah Palin on Sunday with TEA PARTY EXPRESS!
LOL Hope you are referring to Christine - This Big Burly guy with a big walking stick just doesn’t get called a ‘gal’.
Just ask my kids, grand kids and great grand kids - when grandpa gets riled, somebody’s going to have Hell to pay...
Grandpa’s riled!!!
OOOps .. ^**^
You go, guy !!!
And give ‘em all hell !
(stay riled until AFTER the lawyers
have stopped fiddling with all the Dim
losers’ election results and the rightful
conservatives win!)
I’m just praying and praying. The
shenanigans and fraud are going to
exceed anything we’ve seen.
54 isn’t that cold for Delaware. The schmuck vote won’t stay away because of the weather.
We need to convince people that the Democrats are the party of big government, and the party of big government is socialism.
Not a difficult lesson, except when we have big government RINOs in the republician party.
O’Donnell and Miller winning would be the sweetest of victories against the state run media establishment.
