“A majority of active-duty and reserve service members surveyed by the Defense Department would not object to serving and living alongside openly gay troops, according to multiple people familiar with the findings.”
This doesn’t surprise me. I was one of the Army Reservists tagged to take the survey. It was written in such a way that you couldn’t really express your opinion on the matter clearly. It was obvious, from the way the survey was worded, that they weren’t interested if I cared about open homosexuals serving, but only if I would leave service if they did or tell others to do so. The survey wasn’t about gauging military opinion, but how to get DADT repealed with the least amount of turmoil. Taking this BOGUS survey was distasteful and probably the worse BS I have seen in my time in the military. My wife received a companion survey that was just as BOGUS.
NEVER did the outright ask, “do you think homosexuals should be able to openly serve.” They asked things like “will you leave the military” or “would you stop going to unit social functions.” The only place you could remotely express your opinion was in an open comments section. You can imagine that will be ignored. Sadly, with so many of the young persons joining today, they have become desentisized to homosexual behavior by the entertainment industry, et. Al. They don’t have a firm grasp on right and wrong themselves....it is creating discipline problems dealing with “amoral” enlistees. Now they want to add open homosexuals to that morass? Insanity!
Thank you for your personal experience with this BS “survey”.
The rest of the story.
The way you explain it, it does sound like the results were twisted. Come to think of it, surveys never are without an agenda. (Thanks, little jeremiah.)
