What people are looking for when they relocate changes from time to time. In the 90s, it was a city with low crime. Then, it was places with good schools.
"These days, you want a job and to make sure you can get a house there," said Bert Sperling of BestPlaces.net, which helps people find the best places to live, work or retire.
Sperling crunched the numbers to find the 10 best cities to relocate to today. The list takes into consideration all kinds of data points from cost of living to crime rates, the number of colleges and how healthy the population is, as well as access to museums, shows, sporting and other events. Plus, one you might not think of - stability.
"We're a big believer in the concept of stability, where there is modest, controllable growth," Sperling explained. "Big booms lead to disruption, and ultimately big busts. Neither is good for livability."
Here are Sperling's Best Cities to Relocate to in America - Why they're the best and who's hiring there:

Might amaze you. Might amuse you.
OK, I’ll list them....
1. Pittsburgh, PA
2. Buffalo-Niagara Falls, NY
3. Omaha, NE/Council Bluffs, IA
4. Fort Worth-Arlington, Texas
5. Austin-Round Rock, TX
6. Des Moines-West Des Moines, IA
7. Madison, WI
8. Minneapolis-St. Paul-Bloomington, MN
9. Denver-Aurora, CO
10. Indianapolis-Carmel, IN
So now Yahoo wants us all to move to blue, moonbat cities?
8 of those 10 are under snow during the winter.
I found Pittsburgh to be a great place to visit.
But I wouldn’t want to live there. Nothing personal, but I’m just not from Western PA and I think it helps to be a local up there.
“I think it helps to be a local up there.”
yea, I think it was Murtha who lamented how that was a real redneck area.

And Austin is liberal, and Madison is liberal.
It would be nice to see such a listing which takes into account the social/political climate. How many Freepers would be thrilled to move to Madison, for example?
An added plus is some of the most affordable housing in the country. And yes, it takes awhile, but you can eventually make friends with the locals. We moved here in 2002 and are beginning to feel at home.
I think the business environment makes a dramatic improvement as well when Tom Corbett's administration takes over in January.
The list seems biased to the mid west.
Fort Worth is the only one I would have even considered. Madison....?
Move to any city in Oregon, if you want to collect bennies. A new state program called Healthy Kids offers no cost health care to families of four making $44K or less and low cost insurance for same size family making $45K to $66K. Thats $5500 a month at the upper end. Now 66K makes you government dependent. Great country, ain’t it?
Two seasons there; winter and road construction.
Usual Yahoo bias. I don’t see Ft Sumner, NM on the list.
Omaha is not a blue, moonbat city. In 2004 Nebraska and Utah were the only states that were 100% red, not even a blue county.
Here in mexifornia, we have ORSA wherein the same amount of yearly you just posted would still be eligible for enrollment in free, no cost healthcare. That’s where most illegals get their prescriptions...I’ve seen it work. My GF is one of the few white nurses in the hospital you could count on your hand.
Plano, McKinney, Denton and Frisco are rather attractive.
Omaha is not a blue, moonbat city.”
But if you move there, I can guarantee you will be at least blue in the wintertime because you will be freezing your dupa off! Wind chill is among the worst I have ever seen.
I grew up in Buffalo-Niagara Falls area. The RATS have destroyed it, taxes are off the map (My $40K house was taxed at $2900 in 1977).
I lived in Indianapolis for 8 years, it is NOT BLUE and actually is very Conservative (Except for the black section).
I also lived in Denver. They used to be conservative until all the Californians moved in. They also get lots of snow and unless you live on a main street, they don’t plow it.
My uber liberal sister-in-law lives in Round Rock, TX and is completely at home.
Jesus bade us to go where the sinners are...
How Pittsburgh gets on these lists: Once a month, Pittsburgh has a nice, sunny day. On those days the views of the city will knock you out. It looks gorgeous. Especially if you come in from the airport through the Ft. Pitt tunnel. If a writer happens to come to Pittsburgh on one of these 12 days per year, he or she will write that it’s the best place to live.
