JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) Alexandra Tobias, a Florida mother accused of shaking her 3-month-old son to death after he interrupted her FarmVille game on Facebook, has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.
The 22-year-old was charged in the January death of her baby, Dylan Lee Edmondson.

My 39 week pregnant wife loves FarmVille. She uses it as a mindless escape from her mentally exhausting job as a healthcare professional.
This is so sad especially for many of us who have tried so hard to have children.

Currently smothering my 3 month old with kisses. Can’t imagine destroying a precious real life because he interrupted her fake life.

In recorded telephone calls Tobias made to family members, she said the recent death of her mother affected her psychological state, and it may have been a contributing factors to her aggression on the night of her son’s death.
“Ever since I found my mother dead, I just haven’t been the same,” Tobias said.
Of course, it's the human's responsibility.
But addictive games are no different from alcohol or gambling or heroin. They affect a part of the human psyche that is very deep, and they take over.
Maybe it would have been something else if not Farmville... but in this case it WAS Farmville.
Her mother's recent death -- finding her own Mom dead -- doubtless was another factor.

Absolutely. The baby cries every three hours for food... shake him. The baby cries from gas pain... shake him. When will people stop having kids if they aren’t going to be the best parents possible? Just a thought.
I like them both, but seriously, blame Farmville??? That sounds like a response only worthy of a liberal. If this miserable POS weren’t addicted to FV, it would be something else. FV is a means of relaxing no different than watching tv or doing crosswords. Just because someone is misusing it doesn’t make it evil. Everything in moderation. This murderer obviously had some mental problems going on besides an addiction to FV
