Dr. Dan Benishek Discusses Economic and Government Reform

"I want to devote some of my time so my grandchildren will have a decent country to grow up in," he said.

Some of the main issues Benishek said he wants to address during his time in office involve the federal and state budgets.

"My job when I get to Washington as I see it is to cut government spending, cut taxes and ease regulations so businesses can start getting back into business," Benishek said.

Because the government has spent money outside of its means for so long, Benishek said the country's economy is "in the basement." For every dollar the government spends, 40 cents is borrowed money, he said.

"We need to stimulate the private economy, and the only way we're going to do that is by showing people in businesses that the federal government has a stable plan, that it can live within its means...We need a government that wants people to succeed every step of the way."

The position Benishek is vying for in Tuesday's election was filled for 18 years by Bart Stupak, who is well known for his involvement in health care reform. The matter is high on Benishek's list, but the Republican candidate has his own ideas about how to work with the system.

Here is one Freeper and Yooper voting for benishek. McDowell who is he, never seen him here in the UP. Stupak was voted in because he was Pro-Life, Pro-Gun and Pro-Catholic. Guess what if Stupak would have run in the primary Stupak would have been defeated soundly. I do not care for Stupak and I hope he stays out of Michigan. Hey played politics with the Healthcare when he never intended to Vote No. So here in the uP there will be a strong vote for Republicans. But Benishek needs a cash infusion.

Meanwhile, Beni is a Catholic Surgeon, stronger than McBowel on the life and gun issue, and the stupid NRA endorsed McBowel, no matter, NRA has become useless.

Beni is doing well in the cash dept, and radio and tv ads are coming on strong.

Mike Reagan’s endorsement in a radio commercial, Michigan Right to Life argues that abortion IS in the Health Care Law, and Beni is travelling and seeing more people face to face, where his doc/patient relationship really shines.

Stupak, Carl Levin, McBowell will all be in Alpena today to “rally” a GOTV event.

My daughter’s class will be having Carl Levin as a speaker today.

I hope she can keep her lips zipped, but somehow, I don’t think she can....

She asked him, "do you honestly believe Obama's stimulus package recovered the economy?"

He answered yes and she listened to the rest of his drivel lifting her eyebrows at what he said.

I told her it was a good question, but he's a slick politician, and he would never tell the truth anyway.
