The French are pretty good at that military withdrawal and pullout stuff. Lots of practice. And of course there is no like whatsoever to the threats from Osama Bin Laden, none at all.........

I believe surrendering to a dead man (courtesy of the US military), is a new low in cowardice and appeasement.

Going to war without the French is like going hunting without your accordion.

1.4 million Frenchmen died in WW1 or about 100,000 more than all Americans in all wars since the Revolution.

I don’t think many Americans realize how hard the unending grind of WW I was on Europe, and yes, particularly the French, since it was fought largely on their home turf.

Having said that, you would think that would have made them all the more determined to stand up to future invasions.

France was bled white in WWI. It has never been the same country since.

They are making a terrible mistake crouching before the power of Islam. But then again, so are we. I am not at all convinced we are accomplishing anything in Afghanistan but just running away will be a disaster.

The west will run away from Afghanistan and the enemy will follow them home. Many millions are already here.

My wifes great grandfather died at Verdun three weeks before her grandfather was born. At 25 her grandfather was taken to be a farm laborer in Germany, never saw his son born either. I have seen the memorials in those tiny French villages that list 80% of the male population gone, sons, husbands, fathers, all dead. It is not hard to understand why any peoples would not want to face that again.

With the ridiculous Rules of Engagement Obama and Co. have put on our troops over there, frankly I don’t blame the French.

If the French couldn’t have held out in Southern France they could have done so in North Africa, which in those days was firmly French territory. I’ve never understood why they didn’t fight on as Churchill and the British did.

Practicing appeasement and pacifism at (nearly) every opportunity makes it an absolute certainty that they will again.
