Pro-Life, Pro-ObamaCare Dems Fight For Survival In Midterms
INVESTOR'S BUSINESS DAILY ^ | 10/27/2010 | SEAN HIGGINS

Eight months after a dozen or so pro-life House Democrats struck a deal with party leadership to pass President Obama's health care bill about half of the group looks unlikely to survive the election.

[snip]

The ObamaCare vote is clearly a drag on the "Stupak Democrats" ....That's bad news for lawmakers like Pennsylvania Rep. Kathy Dahlkemper. Her spokeswoman, Marie Francis, says abortion is a major issue in the district.

"This is an area where people believe in life. They are overwhelmingly pro-life," Francis said.

The freshman Democrat trails Republican Mike Kelly, 44%-37%...

Rep. Jim Oberstar, D-Minn., a long-time abortion opponent, discovered last week that Minnesotan Citizens Concerned for Life, which had long supported him, is now backing his GOP rival. It cited Oberstar's health care vote.

[snip]

Oberstar won his last eight elections with at least 64% of the vote. He was up by just three points, 45%-42%, over Republican Chip Cravaack in an early October poll by Public Opinion Strategies.

Two conservative groups — the Family Research Council and Susan B. Anthony List — have made a point of targeting the anti-abortion Democrats that voted for ObamaCare. FRC is spending about $500,000 on election ads. SBA List is spending $1.5 million.

Rep. Steve Driehaus, D-Ohio, has tried to stop SBA List ads by filing an ethics complaint with the Ohio Elections Commission. He argues the ads' claims that ObamaCare would fund abortions are false. Ohio election law includes criminal penalties for false ads.

[snip]

That may not save Driehaus though. He trails Republican Steve Chabot, 53%-41%, according to a SurveyUSA poll.

Two other pro-life Democrats already will be gone in January. Stupak opted to retire...West Virginia's Alan Mollohan, a 15-term incumbent, lost his primary bid in May.

Ohio freshman Rep. John Boccieri trails Republican Jim Renacci, 42%-39% ...

Stupak is as Stupak does.

I will never forget the shiv in the back we got from these traitors. I felt as if I'd had a stroke.

I am immensely proud of the Susan B. Anthony List for campaigning hard to get these people out, out, out.

BTWm I know some "nuns" are campaigning for Dahlkemper. It's the Benesictine Sisters of Erie --- Joan Chittister's womynpriest, antipope, flapdoodle femineestah posse.

I have two words for these Twisted Sisters: Anathema sit.

The whole Stupak fiasco just drove home the reality that there is no such thing as a pro-life Democrat. No matter how “pro-life” they claim to be, ultimately it means nothing when they are asked to support the Democratic agenda.

It’s impossible to be pro-life and pro-Obamacare.

No such life as a pro-life Democrat if they voted for that bill.

There is no such thing as a pro-life Democrat.

Well, isn't that the reason they are facing extermination? 8<)

Goes to show just how meaningless "pro-life" is as a political identifier. Stalin, Mao, Hitler, and Pol Pot could get elected in some districts just by add the nonsense "pro-life" or "social conservative" moniker to their candidacy.

You cannot be “pro Obamacare” AND “pro life”....that does NOT WORK.

There is going to be so much yammering out of school from defeated Democrats after this election, there will be virtually no way anything is going to get done during the supposed lame duck session. I think there will be so many bitterly disappointed Dhimmies that refuse to fly back to DC that Peloski won’t be able to call a quorum.

Some of these Democrats will have plenty to say once it is clear they have nothing left to lose, and I think we’re going to be amazed at some of the things they all have to say, and at how rapidly some future Premier Hussein scandal that will run through the remaining Democrats like a runaway virus. This election will sow the seeds of diminishing the Democrat Party to minority status for decades.

After this election, perhaps as long as until after 2012, watch the Greens decide they have finally had enough, split off and go National in a big way as an alternative to the Dhimmies. It’s not just the Tea Party out there, I can think of several Left groups that will be forced to try and go it alone after the Democrats finally implode.

One thing for sure, some of it will be deeply amusing to witness, but much will be pretty ugly...

Hope PA. dumps that dumb stump of a fraud blue dog Bob Casey next time around. His lap dog kind talk up pro-life to constituents but vote pro-death for their Dem overlords in DC.

One good thing about the last two years: Both parties are being purged of the “fakers” and realigning to stand for something.

Well, any moniker is nonsense when held hypocritically. Doesn’t make the moniker meaningless; just makes hypocrites of the claimants. "Pro-life" has some linguistic instability, but it's quite useful. Most people take it to mean the politician is against killing babies. Period. The problem is, the hypocrisy begins when they start to add qualifiers, like “I'd never personally kill babies, but ." Most people who regularly vote get the distinction, so it is serviceable as monikers go. Team Stupak's mistake was lying about it to get elected, then getting forced into the light via ObamaCare. You believe in killing babies or you don't. Pretty simple really.
