"They painted her a kook, and the label fit to the point she could not shrugg it off. But let’s be serious here. Had Castle endorsed her, and asked to draw ranks behind her, she would have won easily. He and the RNC abandoned her."

I generally agree with you - but I don't know of any evidence that the RNC abandoned her. The Republican National Senatorial Committee hung her out to dry (as did Karl Rove), but they are an independent organization with their own charter. Michael Steele, head of the RNC, publicly supported her. Of course, as I would expect, ABC worded their article to imply that Steele had said the RNC tried to defeat her in the primary, while that is simply the reporter's opinion being inserted, as far as I know.

Note: I said I don't know of any evidence, not that there isn't any. I just haven't seen it. I would be interested in the facts about how much cash the RNC put into this race.

See:

http://blogs.abcnews.com/thenote/2010/09/michael-steele-rnc-supports-christine-odonnell-without-hesitation.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele said on Wednesday that insurgent Delaware candidate Christine O’Donnell had the full backing of the RNC despite the GOP’s best attempts to prevent her victory.

“I look forward to electing Christine the next senator from the state of Delaware,” Steele said at a press conference at RNC headquarters. “The Republican National Committee supports all of our nominees across the board, without hesitation, doubt. This is an important time for us. We’re looking forward to helping.”

But Steele declined to elaborate on exactly what form that help would take.

It is amazing that all this same info wasn’t presented two years ago when she ran for the other DE Senate seat. This attack has simply been a smear campaign to tear down an otherwise fine candidate. She beat Castle handily in the primary, but is crowned a disastrous candidate. The left, and some on our side, tried to do the same to Rubio, Angle, Fiorini and others.

She has gone campaigned since the primary without party unity, without significant resource from the national party and with media big wigs like Rove cutting her out at the knee before she even had a chance to run. She also has made a couple mistakes along the way that didn’t help.

COD would have had a shot in this seat in the blue state if she did a better job staying on message and had a unified party behind her. I think the odds are pretty bad now, but it didn’t have to be this way, and I am not about to throw good people under the bus for running on conservative platform against the odds.

You watch, even if the dems lose the house and senate, ALL they will talk about Tues eve and Wed morn is O’Donnell losing. How it’s a repudiation of Palin and the Tea Party...blah, blah, blah.

So predictable.

Even though the dems just got CRUSHED.

Exactly, why should lazy dems vote if their candidates are up by 20+?

Unknown poll firm, suspect methodology.

Why is this even on FR?

Because it's a legitimate news story, that's why.

But if you consider yourself to be the Poll Police, you'll need to show your badge.

This poll is completely bogus—it was taken on October 6th—and just now released on the 28th!

Yup.

I find it interesting how many people here are giddy with excitement about what the poll's results are.

“An extremely obvious troll, crowing with delight at the entrails of some bogus poll.”

You have it exactly right. I can’t believe some of the posts in this thread. Well I can because they are dimoKKKRATS doing their job.

I love O’Donnell and wish her the best luck, but she is a disaster waiting to happen.

Unlike their previous Senator Biden...

Christine O'Donnell will win.
THIS poll is worthless.

IF O'Donnell loses, this poll will be off by at least %15.

Just sent her $10 because I'm not giving-in to all the negativism.

And, since This "poll" was released on October 6--2 weeks ago--there's No reason to believe that it's numbers have remained where they were then.

I'm alos praying for a spiritual wave of GODLY-conviction to roll-over Delaware that will cause many to vote for Christine O'Donnell.

It’s worse than that, it was taken over 3 weeks ago...and then only released today. More manufactured news to try to manipulate the election.

A university poll?

Please. How about someone with credibility? Propaganda designed to suppress the vote.

Yeah, really! Fairleigh Dickinson University?!? They have absolutely no credibility whatsoever! Look at their graduates...people like that looney Christine O'Donnell in Delaware!

Now, what was that question again?

Best reply on this whole thread. I do believe that this was/will be a necessary political loss. This caused the moderates around the country to wise up and see what will happen if they continue down their centrist non principled path. It troubles me that very very wise people cannot see that she is an extremely flawed/poor candidate that in my opinion does very little to advance conservative thought.

Look we have a great candidate in california (Fiorina) that can barely beat a horrible liberal (Boxer)because of the dynamics of the electorate

I believe this election cycle will allow Delaware to recruit a good solid conservative and will be able to take on the entrenched Democratic machine in the future.
