UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - New York City's bedbug epidemic has spread to yet another landmark in the city that never sleeps -- the United Nations, officials at the world organization said on Wednesday.
The pests appeared at places like the Empire State Building and Bloomingdale's before reaching the city's center of international diplomacy on the East Side of Manhattan.
The U.N. press office said a bedbug-sniffing dog had confirmed the presence of bedbugs in furniture in the basement of the Dag Hammarskjold Library, where the offices of the team overseeing the U.N. headquarter's $1.9 billion renovation project are housed.

From what I hear, the building’s a lemon anyway. The new owners will just knock it down and rebuild.
Bed bugs at the UN. Doing the (shovel ready) work Americans won’t do.

Most of them should feel right at home.
No problem, we’ll just do what we did before to get rid of this little pest, spray liberally with DDT and problem solved ... oh wait.
The bedbugs won’t really be accepted at the UN until they join votes condemning Israel for existing.
After that, their only worry will be if the other delegates build a small fire on the carpet so that they can snack of fat fried bedbugs, as a change of pace from their (voted) favorite snack food of fat fried locusts.
