Nestor Kirchner, the former president of Argentina and husband of the country's current leader, has died of a heart attack at the age of 60.

A Peronist, he was a member of Argentina's congress and was secretary-general of the Union of South American Nations at the time of his death.

A Commie, he was a very close ally of Chavez and a friend of Castro. Chavez bankrolled both elections for the Kirchners and they own him, BIG TIME! Watch for Chavez to make a move (crude as he always is) on Kirchner's widow, Pres. Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner!

I bet all the Argentinians who’s pensions were stolen by this reptile and his wife are crying tears of grief. Or not...as I suspect is the case.

The contrast between the showcase that is Chile and the basket case that is Argentina is striking. Too bad this country’s leader insist on following the same road that leads inevitably to same ruin.

Hugo Chavez, the Venezuelan president, led the tributes, writing on his Twitter account: "Oh my dear Cristina ... how sad! What a huge loss suffered by Argentina and our America! May Kirchner live forever!"

He was a commie like Chavez, Castro, and Obama. Good, glad his Spiritual Father has called him home to hell.

While no one can deny that Kirchner had cordial relations with Chavez - just like Lula da Silva - he did not need Chavez to "bankroll" any elections for him.

Duhalde endorsed Nestor Kirchner in the general election and the polls were showing Kirchner beating Menem by more than 20 points - Menem dropped out of the race.

Christina Kirchner likewise destroyed her main competitor by a 20 point margin.

These were not close contests where funding made a difference - they were total cakewalks.

Not only that, but Argentina's own Peronists have very deep pockets - even in competitive elections the Kirchners would have had more than enough home-raised funds.

I always thought of Kirchner as less of a Peronist and more of a Cabronist.

If by "campaign funds" they mean "personal bank account" I'd readily believe it.

But the Kirchners never had any need for foreign contributions.

This was a straight-up bribe for political favors. The only way it could be spun to sound quasi-legal was as "contributions."
