A poll released two days ago shows a 31-year-old Republican challenger to be five points up on one of the most powerful politicians in Pennsylvania.
The poll of 800 voters in Pennsylvania's 116th legislative district shows challenger Tarah Toohil to be preferred to Democrat incumbent Todd Eachus 49 to 44 percent with 9 percent undecided. It was conducted Oct. 18 and sponsored by the Pennsylvania House Republican Campaign Committee.

It's a GOP poll so take it for what you will, but the Dems haven't been responding.
Also F&M has Pat Toomey up by 7.

On NPR this morning, they did a story on how the Republican party has rejected women politicians. They looked at primaries and noted that many Republican women had lost in primary races, therefore the GOP was misogynistic.
They did briefly mention Carly Fiorina, Meg Whitman, Christine O'Donnell, Sharon Angle, and Sarah Palin, but insisted that these exceptions meant nothing.

What does this tell us? That there really is a Republican tide out there nationally. PA is somewhat of a bellwether state.

For your own amusement, find an image of Sheila Simon, the Lt. Governor candidate in Illinois. I'll let you "guess" which party she's a member of after you see her picture.
Hint: keep a fork handy. You'll need it for your eyes afterward.

I'd vote for her...but apparently that is a Repub. polling outfit, hopefully no special sauce added.
