HALLOWEEN: VIOLATION OF SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE?
The Dominion-Post ^ | 10/27/10 | Pastor Terry Hagedorn

Posted on 10/27/2010 12:52:35 AM PDT by Keli Kilohana

I am not against children having fun or getting candy; however, why isn’t Halloween a violation of the so-called “separation of church and state?”

If someone argues that the children in public schools are oblivious to the religious significance (to Christians, Wiccans and Satanists) of Halloween and are just having fun, then why can’t the same be argued for children participating in a Christmas or Easter party?

If the names Christmas and Easter had to be changed to winter break and spring break, then why shouldn’t all references to Halloween also be changed to fall festival — or some other politically correct term?

If Christmas trees can be banned, then why can’t the trappings of Halloween: Jack-o’- lanterns, witches and black cats?

Evidently, this violation will only be ended when a Muslim, Jehovah’s Witness or atheist is offended by Halloween in the public schools.

Why isn’t Halloween unconstitutional?

For moonbats, Christianity = evil, pagan = good.

Halloween isn't 'unconstitutional' according to our Marxist overlords because we are currently under a secular humanist theocracy, and Halloween is a neopagan religion. As neopaganism doesn't fall under an organized religion, it is seen as acceptable to the secular humanist theocracy. Granted, our Founding Fathers intended this to be a Christian Nation. However, we've had to deal with deviants sneaking in anti-Christian language into the Treaty of Tripoli, the criminalization of prayer in a public venue, and other awful drivel put out by the Supreme Court. The writers of the Constitution were flawed; they should have utilized Patrick Henry's language with respect to religion. (Some other good language is in Holy Trinity v. United States, 1892.) If you give a secular humanist a vote, he'll just send in 10,000 more absentee ballots and try to criminalize Christianity. Pluralism cannot exist with such people. As Christianity has continually displayed a strong correlation with morality, I believe that it would be ecumenical for our government to promote it and to defame non-Christian belief systems.

Yes, because there’s nothing like telling the 90% of the country that considers Halloween a fun & harmless diversion before Winter hits, that they are a bunch of pagans. That will surely lead more people to Christ.

You might want to reconsider who the “moonbats” are in this scenario.

Here on the leading edge of political correctness, euphemisms for Halloween are already in place.

At the elementary school a block from my house (in San Jose, CA), is the activity sign announcing “Fall Festival” activities. Let no one be offended.

Indeed, there seems to be every indication that no fun is being had by all, certainly no externally visible black cats or jack-o-lanterns.

I, for one, could do with a little less verbal gamesmanship.

Demanding even more P.C. behavior is unlikely to cow the statist that banned Christmas and Easter. He is eager to limit freedom, all you have to do is ask. He will grant your wish, ban Halloween, and thus deprive you of any principled ground to stand on when he perpetrates his next statist outrage.

Bah! Humbug!

(oops, wrong holiday)

It’s a pagan practice so it gets a pass. Double standard for the humanists.

For the same reason Ramadan will be OK.

It ain’t a Christian or Jewish holiday.

For the life of me, I can’t figure out why Libs don’t see they are on the short list for conversion after Islam takes over.

Halloween derives from All Hallows Eve, the night before All Saints Day.

I am a Viet vet, who served to protect your rights. Mine too, but my job was to protect your’s first. I am not a ‘secular humanist’, as you put it. I believe in Deity, though you might disagree with me, as you continue reading. It is true that the Neopagan religion has no ‘pope’ as the Catholics do, or ‘archbishop’ as the Anglicans do, or a ‘president’ as the Mormons do. Neopagans do NOT wish such ‘central government’ of their beliefs, which would lead to so-called ecumenical bulls from ‘the seat’, and remove that which is central to their beliefs, that every Neopagan is authority to themselves, and responisible for their own actions, to themselves. Neopagan literature, which anyone can read, in any bookstore, or on the Web, states that even the inscriptions of their own religious findings within personal journals, are held in respect, because there is no One Book, again another view against ecumenism among Neopagans. Yes, there are many authors abound, but no -one- is seen as THE authority. I would direct you to read the statement made by The Council of American Witches, 1974, “The Principles of Wiccan Beliefs”. Neopagans are NOT ‘humanists’, but Deists.

I know what Communism is all about, and it is “Live free, or die, baby” for me. Being a former military kid, then GI, the troops need all the support they can get! The V.A. is a handful that needs fixing. I lost friends in 9/11, and was attacked in 1972, in Asia, by Mr. burkha-burkha-jihad. So, jihadists are ‘not on my Facebook list of friends’, as is not Mr. Obama the Kenyan. I am a licensed Pagan priest. I’m even registered at the county courthouse. I am a regional newspaper columnist. I am a Libertarian, and oh yes, I do vote. I am a defender of the First Amendment, and I also know that the Second Amendment backs up the First. I believe in Concealed Carry for EVERY American, and believe that the Castle Law should be nationwide. I am NOT a tree-hugger, nor an environmental activist. (It is NOT my job to tell you what kind of work you should be doing. That is for you, on YOUR path, to discover.)
