Just a few weeks ago, Boucher appeared to be cruising to another term with double-digit leads. Now the race is too close to call, as independents have shifted their votes to Griffith, and Boucher's lead among women has evaporated.
With a week to go to the Congressional Elections, the uncertainty is building for Democrats, even in Southwest Virginia's 9th District.
The latest News7 SurveyUSA poll released Tuesday morning shows a dead heat between long-time incumbent Rick Boucher and Republican Morgan Griffith.
Just a few weeks ago, Boucher appeared to be cruising to another term with double-digit leads.
Now the race is too close to call, as independents have shifted their votes to Griffith, and Boucher's lead among women has evaporated.

GREAT NEWS for people in SW VA who want to get rid of 28 year incumbent liberal democrat Boucher and replace him with Conservative Morgan Griffith!!!
Boucher still has over $1M in the bank, thanks to Obama and his cronies...please visit Griffith’s website and CONTRIBUTE!

Who is the independent? Who does he hurt?

Boucher has to go! My little town in SW Va. is for Griffith
This is great news. I was watching this race earlier but it seemed like Boucher was holding on. I still believe that the only race that is really safe is Bobby Scott. Moran was only leading Patrick Murray by 13 last week. Now that is not good for Dems.

The way I see it, Boucher wins the more liberal I-81 Roanoke to Bristol corridor (which includes Virginia Tech, Hollins University, Emory & Henry College, etc, and the larger towns like Blacksburg, Wytheville, Marion, Abingdon, and Lebanon), but Griffith takes coal country (Buchanan, Dickenson, Russell, Tazewell, and Wise counties--not sure about Scott and Lee counties).
It's going to be close, but Griffith has the momentum now and may very well pull this out.
FANTASTIC.
I can’t believe the VA 9th might get rid of this bedwetter!
If Boucher goes down, it’s could be indicative of a historic disaster for the Dims.

The good news just keeps rolling in. I just posted the VA-09 poll on KHR a couple of minutes ago.
