Fox News Channel's signature news anchor Shepard Smith has signed a new multi-year deal to continue as the channel's lead news anchor as well as anchor of FOX Report and Studio B. Smith's most recent pact with Fox News inked in 2007 was for 3 years and nets him $7 million-8 million a year.
Fox News is expected to announce Smith's re-signing this afternoon. Smith, who is a guest on The View today to talk about midterm election coverage will also probably address his new contract on the ABC talk show where his Fox News colleague Bill O'Reilly recently made headlines with his visit.
Smith is one of Fox News' original stars, having joined the channel at its inception in 1996 as a Los Angeles-based correspondent. For the past 11 years, he has anchored FNC's signature 7 PM newscast The FOX Report with Shepard Smith since, which has dominated its timeslot for more than 100 consecutive months, averaging 1.8 million viewers.
He has covered such news events as Hurricane Katrina; the Middle East conflict, 9/11, the war in Afghanistan, Operation Iraqi Freedom, the Columbine school massacre and President Clinton’s impeachment.
That makes me smile to no end.

I get home from work - feed the cats and dogs - check to see if SS is on or hopefully if someone else is subbing in... If I am stuck with SS I turn off the tv - and go for a long walk... This guy Smith must have some dirt on some Fox executive or something in order to retain his job... I just want to smack the tv every time SS says something stupid - biased and liberal.

One thing that Shep did good..in the 2000 media scrum in Florida during the recount, Shep was arested for bumping a CNN reporterette with his car, because she was standing in a parking space, trying to hold it

My favorite TV moment was Shep falling, rolling down the street in Beaumont, TX, after being blown down by hurricane Rita winds.
I fail to understand FOX news, I mean I like most the the folks there but Sheppard Smith comes off as a “gee whiz” gosh darn it amature of a journalist. He should have been yanked from FOX years ago but he probably has excellent connections and “protection” within the Fox upper management. Too bad, there are so many other competent folks at Fox that take his helm away.
