As Gov. Paterson last week presented yet another plan to save the long-beleaugered Off-Track Betting Corp., Mayor Bloomberg exposed a $200 million deal-breaker that should put the final nail in OTB's coffin.
On Wednesday, Paterson outlined his scheme for "saving" the world's only money-losing bookie:

NY is incapable of running any type of business. Why? Because they consider enterprises like OTB as a jobs program for unskilled workers, instead of a money making operation. They allow these unskilled workers to unionize, who in turn, demand more and more. Eventually, they do what they are most famous for, to wit, kill the goose that lays the golden eggs.
It's not just OTB. It's government of all kinds at every level.

This is a money losing bookie WHO HAS A 100% LEGAL MONOPOLY!!!! Think abou that for a moment.
If the government was Paris Hilton, it couldn’t get a drink or make a buck in a bar full of lonely sailors.
If this doesn't illustrate why government should never and can never successfully run any business, nothing will.
If you are the only bookie in the state and lose money...just kill them all.
