SNIPPET: “Brooklyn federal prosecutors yesterday told a judge that they’ve obtained e-mail correspondence from Anwar al-Awlaki, a Yemeni-American cleric who was killed Sept. 30 by a missile launched from a drone, to Abdel Hameed Shehadeh, 22, a Staten Islander who aspired to travel abroad and join the jihad against US forces.
In addition to “e-mail letters to Anwar al-Awlaki,” Assistant US Attorney James Loonam told the judge that the prosecution also has “tapes of phone calls” they plan to use as evidence in Shehadeh’s upcoming trial.”
