UPDATED 10/25/10 8:09 p.m.

‘Great Lakes Cyclone’ To Strike Chicago Tuesday

CHICAGO (WBBM/CBS) – A combination of strong thunderstorms, followed by violent and destructive winds, will make for one of the Midwest’s most dangerous storms in 70 years.

The temperature Monday is hit the 70s under partly sunny skies. But when Tuesday morning comes around, the Chicago area will be slammed with furious thunderstorms as a cold front passes over the area.

Damaging winds will likely be a component of the thunderstorms, and there is a risk of tornadoes, CBS 2’s Mary Kleist reports.

The severe storms are expected to sweep into the area between 4 a.m. and 9 a.m. Tuesday, coming in the form of a squall line, which often means strong straight-line winds. The storms will be at their heaviest during the Tuesday morning rush.

Hopefully it will all freeze into a 5 mile deep glazier that will remain there for the next 250,000 years.

Supposed to be about 71 degrees, sunny, clear, with a mild pacific breeze tomorrow on the southwest coast.

I'd agree with that if I didn't live here! I'm about 50 miles southwest of Chicago & it's already blowing like crazy here! It's supposed to hit about 4 a.m., guess these are the preceding winds!

Meanwhile, deep inside the bowels of Daley’s basement, a “thinktank” of democrat strategerists are contemplating how to use the storm to hide more fraudulent votes.

These late October windy days are very common here in Wisconsin, but the winds rarely gust over 40MPH. They are usually in the 20-30 range and that makes for difficult driving, especially in my Cavalier.

"The National Weather Service advises unsecured objects may become airborne. Falling tree limbs and sporadic power outages can be expected. Travel may become difficult with high profile vehicles becoming difficult to control.

Tree limbs and power lines will also be at risk.

The severe weather system is coming in the form of a cyclone, a low-pressure system of closed, spiraling motion."

I had a very sudden and irregular type of windstorm to hit me here in Wasilla awhile back, lost power for two days.

Be prepared, get those 12 hour chemical lights or LED camping lanterns. And some potable water. If its going to be cold at night its time to think about an independent heat source, like a wood stove, most people don’t realize most modern heaters still require some electrical power, I thought I could just use my oven, no it has to have 120vac, the top burners can be lit but not the oven.
