The stupak AMENDMENT to the bill (the amendment Cao and all other Republicans voted in favor of) was well-written and had universal support from pro-life groups. They were ready to give him an award for it.
After the Senate stripped the amendment from the bill, the Stupak COMPROMISE with Obama to have an "executive order" not to fund abortion was announced. That was something totally different and wasn't worth the paper it was written on. Stupak sold us down the river on that, pro-life groups decried it, and Cao (and every other Republican Congressman was well) voted NO on the FINAL PASSAGE of the bill AFTER the phony "compromise" was reached.
