Is this it?
Rostad said he received the phone call from Miller's father after Kodiak Republicans asked him to find out what happened at the Fairbanks borough. Rostad forwarded the results of the conversation to a number of Republicans in an e-mail sent Thursday night. Rostad wrote in the e-mail that Rex Miller told him there was a poll being conducted as part of the effort to oust Ruedrich as state Republican Party chairman.
Here's how Rex Miller described what happened, according to Rostad's e-mail:
"One noon hour, on his own time at the borough, Joe participated in an online poll voting against Randy. He used four office computers in the office to do it, thinking this was his chance to boost numbers to get rid of Randy. He emptied the cache files on the computers so the users wouldn't know what he had done. When the users asked what had happened to their caches, (Miller) admitted to what he did. He was reprimanded and docked in pay for several days, but was not suspended or fired."
"Rex told me that his son called him that same day and admitted that he did a stupid thing. He said he was sorry. Joe was 'never in danger of being fired at any time,' Rex said," Rostad wrote in the e-mail.
He tried to Freep an online poll, at work.
Drew says "let's not pretend this isn't a bad thing," but it's just not. Miller was an employee (part-time) and it was the employer's policy that computers not be used for political purposes. Okay -- he violated the employer's rules... but what he did can barely even be termed "for political processes." He went to four machines because they had different IPs and voted on them all to Freep a meaningless online poll.
This is what Murcszinski has her hopes pinned on?
I'm sure most of you are probably not supposed to comment on websites at work. Yeah, okay. Well, fine. If you get caught, you get a slap on your wrist. You wouldn't expect this to disqualify you for higher office.
Update:
Oh, I Like This Part:
When the users asked what had happened to their caches, (Miller) admitted to what he did.
He admitted it. And right now he's saying "I haven't lived a perfect life" as if this is some big black mark.
Guy seems pretty squeaky clean if this is the stuff he's confessing to and apologizing about.
I agree - in the law offices I’ve worked in (both public and private sector), using another attorney’s computer would be considered a highly suspicious activity.
Also, I seem to recall reading that the “poll” in question was not simply some meaningless online poll, but was actually a binding poll related to the Republican state convention. If that is the case, then I think this raises some serious questions about Miller’s suitability for elected office.
Did Lisa Murkowsky use four computers when trying to pass her bar exam, hoping each new computer would increase her chances of passing?
“Murkyouchsky, is one ugly woman. She just emits hate when she looks at Joe. Alaska is a beautiful state, they might want to take that into consideration when they select Senator.”
I think it’s spelled Murkouwsky, actually.
;-)
OMG! He voted online four times. This means the 25 free ski trip entries I filled out for radio promo where I won free lift tickets makes me a criminal. Glad I’m not running for office.
You can be sure Princess Lisa has used her govt computers for personal stuff.
Well, you know, only democRATS are allowed to do that!
I am very concerned about the voter fraud ... Al Franken is a glaring of example of unprecedented voter fraud at work.
“I agree - in the law offices Ive worked in (both public and private sector), using another attorneys computer would be considered a highly suspicious activity.”
His employer- knowing this- didn’t seem to think so...
“I live here and if anything all the antics against Miller are childs games, tantrums. Joe Miller will win, I believe in him.”
Plus, I would have to think that folks up there (just like almost everywhere else) want to see Obamacare repealed ASAP!
Funny how the same 'concern trolls' that pepper the O'Donnell thrads are showing up on the Miller threads...all that concern, and so little time...
We are VERY much against Obamacare.
Besides we travel outside the country for everything medical anyway, especially dental work.
Take a vacation in the winter, enjoy some Cancun sun and get the teeth fixed all in one shot.
Our hospital bills and medical expenses up here are insanely outrageous.
OMAB! (Oh My Aqua Buddha). The Beast! We all know what will happen if he gets elected - "Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together - mass hysteria."
I’m a dog person...never had a cat but I think they’re cute. I love animals.
Why did he try to cover it up?
“thrads = threads”.
Great. Now let’s see Obama’s records. I’m still waiting to see John Kerry’s, too.
WTF? STFU and go back to the arm chair.
You must be a liberal troll ... it was only two YooHoos, and a snickers bar. Oh, and he hid the wrapper of the Snickers under the couch cushion and pushed the YooHoo empties under the recliner. You libs are all alike. If he’d eaten all his supper you wouldn’t even bring up the YooHoos. And you probably wanted the ASnickers for yourself so you failed to mention that part!
“Why did he try to cover it up?”
Well, I think almost any politician that has ever run will not willingly bring forth negative things about him/herself.
There are important questions that Murkowski hasn’t yet answered about things in her past. If the Alaska newspapers weren’t bought off and owned by outsiders, they would be asking those questions.
It looks pretty silly if this is the best they’ve got against him, so maybe it’s more of a rookie candidate mistake in overestimating it. That said, it sounds everything is out in the light, and that he fully explained himself.
