At a U.S. congressional candidate debate this past week, the crowd of approximately 300 in attendance drowned out the moderator's objections, not to protest over government policies or to argue some candidate's comments, but to insist upon reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.
Illinois' 8th Congressional District candidates had gathered at Grayslake Central High School in Grayslake, Ill., to participate in a debate moderated by Kathy Tate-Bradish of the League of Women Voters, Evanston branch.
During Tate-Bradish's opening comments, an audience member stood to ask if the Pledge of Allegiance would be recited.
"No, we are not," the moderator responded, "That is not part of the proposal tonight."
Several in the crowd then began to shout, "Why not?"
When it became clear Tate-Bradish was not going to allow the Pledge to be recited, the audience stood and said it anyway.
This is still America, so wave your flag! Choose from 40 different patriotic banners in the WND flag store.
The moderator further irked the crowd afterward, saying she felt "disrespected" by being "forced" to include the pledge "in presumably a planned way."
Video of the exchange, taken by an audience member and posted on YouTube, can be seen below:

There is a revolution afoot! A revolution to restore America!
So far non-violent.
I wouldn’t assume it will stay that way if the dems are caught trying to steal an election anywhere in the country.
"We The People"....I'm so proud of you....and not for the first time!!!!!
Time to give the League of Women’s Voters the boot. At one time they could be trusted to be fair and impartial, but that time has long gone.
Amen, Not to dis the crowd for they did very good. It would have been even more poetic if one and all would have left after saying the pledge. This of course would have forced the candidates to become more engaged in this event for they want and need the audience. Never-The -Less it was Great!
Respect is earned. She didn't earn any respect and didn't deserve any.
This woman called the pledge sayers ‘phony patriots’.
The video made me cry.
Well DUH! REAL patriots hate America, everything America stands for, and anything that reminds them of America. </liberal logic>
What was interesting was that the Pledge recitation was so spontaneous. It is a comment on the great unity of spirit of many Americans right now.
American are greatly p!ssed.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
In my decades long experience the League of Women Voters has always left far left.
Everyone, and I do mean everyone, I talk to is angry. Add profanity being the norm at the mere mention of the US Congress and the Imam in our WH. Politics is being discussed everywhere all the time. The Sleeping Giant is fully awake and angry; big-time angry at the enemies within. Only the arrogant, power-hungry Elitists in this Regime and in government all over the country are too arrogantly dense to “get it.”
I went to our voting center last week to have absentee ballots sent to my parents and while I was there I noticed a steady stream of early voters...and they weren't liberals (liberals don't drive Ford pickups with gun shop and hunting-related bumper stickers).
Democrats *hate* the Constitution, and every other document or oath that reinforces our natiomnal unity and resolve. They are always interfering with their decades long efforts to establish gagging tyrannical rule over us...their property.
Never met a woman with a hyphenated last name who was not a lesbian. If not in fact, at least in spirit.
The hyphenated name was my tip-off.
